Free porting on 1st set of edelbrock heads

Iron Flow # Comparison

What would be typical flow #'s of street/strip ported iron Stage 1's at different lifts for comparison sake. Thanks

 

Those are pretty good numbers. .400 numbers really kickup nice. It's rare to have fully ported iron heads to flow more. It can be done but at a much higher cost.

Now we just need to here how well they respond to some port work and how the chevy rockers function.

 

If anybody can make those babies flow big numbers ,it's Jim B. He's one of the best in the porting business.

 

OK, I just have to be the first one to ask.. Will any of the chevy rocker shaft conversions fit? :laugh:

 

Ok, So far we are at 270 something at .400 lift on the intakke, 297 at .500 and 312 at .550 lift. Low numbers are comming up as well. The exhaust is over 204, have'nt really done much work on those yet.
So at least we know they will go into the 3 teens at this point. Jim Burek

 

I've really only been concentrating on the intake thus far. this Is where we are at now.

Jim, do these heads have a 45 degree backcut on the valves? If so, what's your opinion on what they would do with a 30 degree backcut versus the 45 degree? Thanks!! :TU:

 

The valves have no backcut as shipped, same as any other aftermarket head. One of the things I have done so far is put a backcut on the valves, this really improved the .100 to .300 numbers. They don't allow you alot of room for a back cut here, these heads have a prety standard 3 angle valve job with a very wide seat both intake and exhaust. A more high performance valve job with thinner seat angles would be a plus, i'm not going to do that because these are already done. The wider seat is good for a street application.

I don't know where some of you guy's get your facts,Gessler head porting is known as the best for Buicks.If you want the best CNC'd heads go to TA.This is not my opinion,it's a fact.You guy's don't read newsletters about who's cars are going fast?BrunoD.

Gessler and TA have an open forum here to share the results of their work too. So far, they haven't much. That's their choice.

Right or wrong, Bruno's comments do not add to the value or subject matter of this thread, other than to put someone down who is sharing the results of his work. That's how he's bashing.

If you want to start the monkey-cage antics, go back to the "other" board before you find yourself banned from here again.

 

Problem with the particular post that took this thread to having a negative overtone is some people feel the need to state their opinion in a post that does not contribute to what the intent of the original posters intentions were.It started out informative as it should be. Thats the intent. Keep running our mouths and we will be fortunate to see this thread go any furthur. Im pretty sure Jim didnt put Ken up to "Hey buddy, say something nice about me in my post" But with him doing so, no harm, no foul. Was complimentary. The post that followed was negative, biased, and hinted at where people can get their products and services done better. heck, remove the post that was a compliment as well! The other is total BS, and should be withdrawn from here as it detracts from the original intent of the post. Guy does something for free, and still gets slammed for it. ou: BTW, I have my concerns with Jim as well, I just dont air it out for the world to see.

 

Whats wrong with you guys? JB is giving us all this information for.....FREE!!!!. If you don't like JB, then don't read any of his posts. Posting anything negative about anyone on this board that is willing to help out the rest of us doesn't make sense to me. If he's such a thorn to some, then simply put him on your ignore list.
