Ah yes, another big contributor to nothing useful on 3 Buick bulletin boards.

Anybody care for a vote on banning BuickBuddy for the 3rd or 4th time?

Every board out there has trouble makers. Nothing to add but controversy. You have my vote to ban anyone who hurts the buick community by soiling the waters for constructive information gathering. I would ban anyone who...

    * pits one vendor against another
    * attacks another board member that is not at the race track
    * is deamed disruptive to the community in general

We are here for the love of our buick rides and power plants. I don't want to here things like this guy is better so lets high jack the other guys thread.

Me and my little circle of buick powered buddies have a real interest in exactly what Jim discovers while doing these heads. We have a V8 regal which could use a cheap pair of good flowing heads. Working against a thread as inportant as this one, which gives us facts about a new product for the first time, hurts all of us.

If your post does not add to the value of the thread please reconsider posting.

    Don't feel alone there Jim........

I think afew of the comments on this thread are "tasteless retorick". The Buick community beats up on it's own, tears itself apart, and lays all it's eggs in one basket much too often. I have learned over the last year that "you can't make everyone happy"........ Especially online! :(
Jim puts this information up to help others make a smarter decision when building an engine, and gets spat on. This is total bullsheet, and some of you know it! I am sick of the politics and antics! Some of you need to think before you post! :af:
If you are not going to post something constructive on someone else's thread, go make a thread of your own. I don't see a whole lot of other guys offering up this information.

    Mike,
Can't we all get along? No we can't, and I don't expect that on any public forum. We Buick guys like to think we are a cut above the rest when it comes to that, but you know what?, it aint so. People are people, and there will always be a bone of contention between certain individuals. Human beings just can't help finding reasons to dislike one another, if it isn't one thing it is another. I don't expect people to agree, or get along for that matter, especially here.

That being said, I think Bruno's comments are being blown way out of proportion here. How is Jim B. being spat on? :Do No: I didn't see any specific, aimed criticism at what Jim B. is doing here. Anyone that knows Bruno, knows that he has some strong opinions on Buick performance, and he is entitled to them, because he has built many GS's that flat out kick butt here on the Island. Bruno is close to Legend status here  But I've disagreed with Bruno many times, and we have argued (good natured) on occasion. I enjoy a debate once in awhile. I think what Bruno was saying is that he feels that Gessler and TA are tops in his book, and that flow #'s are nice, but the real proof of someone's work is when it lays down the numbers at the track. So if you want to debate Bruno on anything, show him the numbers and why you think he is wrong, about anything he says. You can get your point across that way. That will interest everyone. People are way too sensitive sometimes.

BTW, I find what Jim B is doing to be very interesting. I'm sure it will help alot of people. :TU:

I think the tone of Bruno's post said more than the actual words he typed.

Bob, that is the whole problem with posting online. You can't possibly know someones true "Tone" for sure. I know Bruno for a long time, and I can tell you with confidence, that alot is being read into his words here.

LOL! You guys.............. :Dou: Come on now, i've known more than my shares worth of people leave this board due to controversy like this, I did leave for quite some time, a few months at least, until I got my Buick 350 engine running, then I came back just for the useful info. And I shouldn't have to be the first one to tell you that, ranting is not considered useful info. :Smarty: Bruno should be able to voice his opinion, as should anyone else be able to do. Alas, Jim Burek should also be allowed to post his results w/out having someone bring him down. As well, anyone who's been around for a while knows that arguing over something is not going to get you anywhere. I have learned my lesson from arguing, especially on a bulletin board. The funny thing is, I see this kind of thing happen all the time, and then when the very exact same people who are arguing meet each other in person, at a Buick event, the power tour, or anywhere else, become the best of friends! Now, with that being said, and a true testimony to ponder, let us all move on. I hope Jim does not leave the board, and I hope that we all can just get along. I don't know about you all, but I know that I have been taught one thing: "If you don't have anything good to say, you're better off not saying anything at all." :TU:

What a joke this board is. A guy can't even do something for free for the community without having some smart ass open his stupid mouth and put a negative spin on the original post. I'll finish this post up, but don't expect much more from me. Just consider me disenchanted with the Buick community. Jim Burek[/QUOTE]

Jim has contributed much to this board over the past several years and I would hate to see him feel has if his efforts weren't appreciated. I wanted him to know that there are people here do appreciate what he does for ALL of us.

Larry brought up a good point about peoples tone. Perhaps Bruno's comments were meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but this post was not the proper place to make such comments. My first post was indeed derogatory, and it was meant to be. I angers me to see people who make valuable contributions here run off by a few know-it-all's. The rest of us suffer because of it!

Did Mr. Bruno come off as a no it all, no he did not. He expressed his opinion and he's entiteled to do so in the U.S.A.

So what right do you have to call someone an ass and a know it all because you don't agree with his opinion.
Just shut your mouth unless you have something to contribute to the thread.

    Darren,
Even if Bruno said what he said in a post he started, you know it would have been met with the same reaction. I think Bruno's comments, while not contributing to the thread, per se, had more to do with his loyalty to TA Products and Gessler porting than anything else. If he had made some direct specific criticism of Jim B., I could understand people geting upset, but he didn't. And you called him an :moonu: over that? Have you ever met Bruno? I don't think you would say that to him face to face, so why do it over the computer? I've never posted anything that I wouldn't say face to face. We can all do things in a civil manner here, it just takes a little extra effort and thought. :TU:

Please read Jim's comments. I simply think it would be a shame for him to give up on this board, just like Dave from Dave's Small Body HEI's, a guy I know you respect. I didn't start this mess and only posted after Jim made the post quoted above. The know-it-all comment wasn't directed at Bruno per se.

I simply feel that Jim should know that there are people who appreciated his efforts. :TU:

I honestly don't think Jim B. is going anywhere, besides, what makes you think it is any different in Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, or Mopar land? I don't understand Jim's reaction at all. I'll repeat, Bruno said nothing aimed directly at Jim B.

Come on Larry........ it doesn't have to be said directly to be a slam on one's integrity.

Why not let Bruno clarify what his meaning was. It sure reads like a very disrespectful comment, and I have tried to read it as not. If I am wrong, then let Bruno come in here let us know what HIS true meaning was.
Why do you guys think there are no vendors on here giving out 'free" tips? This place is very cut throat on it's very limited vendors. You BBB guys don't know how lucky you have it! 3 fricken vendors for Alum heads??!!
We , as a group, need to quit the vendor bashing........ I've seen it over and over on the boards. It's very counter productive! :Do No:

I think alot of people are not happy with Edelbrock, a company that basically ignored and thumbed their nose at the Buick community for a long time. I understand that, but I feel the more choices people have, the better. Competition is good. The Edelbrock head, is a great alternative to someone who finds the TA heads and Buick roller rockers too pricey. There is a very interesting thread on the Race forum comparing out of the box TA and Edelbrock heads to iron Stage1 heads. In addition, Gessler, TA, and AM&P have have standardized their flow benches to one another, so porting results are more uniform. Flow benches can vary quite a bit. It would be great if all Buick head porters could do that. More accurate comparisons, mean more informed purchases.

I hope that Greg, TA, AM&P, TSP, Kenne-Bell, Carmen Faso, Tom Telesco, and anyone else can contribute information that is interesting to read without getting intentionally put down with no constructive debate in mind.

The kind of treatment that Jim has gotten on this thread has alot to do with why one of the above-listed vendors does not post here much. You might be surprised which one.
