Looking forward to seeing what the heads look like. I cant understand why chevy rockers. They are cheap for a reason and when you price chevy shaft mounted rockers youll flip.

Edelbrock does a ton of promotion on new products way before they are available. This helps them predict demand.

They hype the product for 4-6 months, and then release it.... :boring:

    wut about my compression?

I know that using aluminum heads allows you to bump up your compression, because they disapate heat faster.

I was wondering what the desireable compression ratio would be for me running just 93 octane pump gas, with these aluminum heads. :Do No:

I am running a 72' 455, that as far as I know is completely stock. I was looking into these Ebrocks as well.
I am running at 8.6 to 1 right now, all stock.
These heads(Ebrocks) come with 68cc chambers in them, and my math tells me I'd be at about 9.6 after the installation. So how much could i take off of these, if and when they come out, to get an ideal CR? My shop wizard also said I could run close to a 550 lift in this bad boy. Is this correct, and am I better off staying with my 290-94H TA cam? Thanks guys. Baker.

CR and 455 Ebrock alum. heads.

    Thanks for the link.
"To bring the 292 cam's DCR up to the 7.5 to 8.5:1 desirable for a street engine, the static CR needs to be raised to around 10:1 to 11.25:1."

I have glanced over this page a few times in pecking through this forum, making this the first time I've actually read it. The quote above hits me as most important. From what I can gather, using my 290 cam, I could be running well on 93 octane if my compression is between 10:1 and maybe 11:1.
    Is this correct?
Am I right that the compression ratio can be much higher with alum. heads over cast ones?
I'm no scientist, nor am I very experienced in dealing with cams, and heads, and CR's. If anybody can lead me in the right direction, before I start the trial and error process, I'd be much appreciative. Thanks, Baker.

I put some numbers into my DCR calculator for your cam, 290-94H, advertised duration #'s are 290/294, 112 LSA. Assuming cam is advanced 4* to 108*ICL. At 8.6:1, your DCR is 6.45, At 9.6:1, your DCR is 7.16, and at 10.6:1, your DCR is 7.89. Yes Aluminum heads are alot more detonation resistant than cast iron. They dissipate heat faster, so your static compression ratio(SCR) should be increased when using them. My SCR was 9.4:1 with iron heads. When I went with Aluminum heads, I had Greg Gessler mill .040 off the heads. This decreased my combustion chambers down to 59cc. My SCR was then 10.4:1, and my DCR with my 118 cam is 7.5. The engine runs on 93 pump gas without a wimper.

I sell the Edelbrock Buick Performer RPM cylinder head (fully assembled, ready to bolt on) for $899.00 each or $1798.00 for the pair. All Buick Edelbrock heads purchased from Gessler Head Porting includes FREE shipping and there is NO handling charge. :)

I have developed the first level of porting that enhances mid lift flow numbers for street/strip combinations quite nicely. Currently developing and refining the next level of porting modifications.

I too have been waiting for delivery on 20 heads. I still have a few heads that are not spoken for. If you need a set, give me a call.

The excuse I hear for the complete lack of manufacturer interest in making an aluminum nailhead head is "too little interest" or "not enough sales"

Now, I see at least THREE companies offering their version of the aluminum 455 head, fighting over the relatively small group of "go-fast" Buick guys, and it makes me physically ill.

TA was the first to take the risk, and prove the market, and now people are blowing money to see if the other heads can match up. I say "dance with the one that brung ya!"

    Just my .02  Dan
