I don't know if this has been discussed but edelbrock will have performer rpm 455 alm. cylinderheads in 06. And you will be able to use chevy adjustable roller rockers. I just saw this in there 06 catalog on their web site. What do you think?

I had heard that they were coming to market with those. Plenty of great heads out there already, though. I actually run across the Edelbrock people at a yearly trade show, and they always tell me that they have no interest in Buick heads due to the products already out there for these motors. I figure that the real benefit of these heads, is that it may drag the BBB into the spotlight with those not familiar with the motors now. I know that Edelbrock has done heads and somewhat resurected other engine families, like the FE Ford, Pontiac, etc. They have some big shoes to fill if they plan to outperform the others already on the market. Perhaps the exposure from a manufacturer of Edelbrock's stature will spur on additional development of parts for these motors and, hopefully, our cars in general. Thanks, Rudy E.

They'll do to the other Buick head makers what Walmart did to others with their Chinese garbage. Although it might just drive the prices down...I sure wish they would have started with 350 heads for you "little" guys instead.

Interesting they are set up for chevy rocker assemblies, when the high-end chevies and the LS-1 series engines are all using shaft systems. I'll guess that is part of the Wal-Mart strategy.

My guess is the price competition will hurt Bulldog the worst, being the new player with the shallowest pockets, although I would speculate that a TA cash-cow has figuratively just gone out to pasture.

I had a long chat with them at SEMA show this month and they have no intrest in Buick performance stuff...they know volume is low and TA has the market locked up.

Well, I'm torn in two. :Do No:

On one hand, a new product such as Edelbrock may lift our small community into the "big leagues." We may see more support from the larger manufacturers. Lower prices as well as an increase in product quality will arrise.

On the second hand, they may be throwing a product at us that has no R/D on Buicks, but rather worked well for them on their Chevvy's (hence the Chevvy's rocker's).

As we are all aware of, our Buicks are very different from the SBC and BBC that they are used to dealing with. THEY HAVE PUT FORTH NO R/D, OR $$$ TOWARDS OUR CAUSE; whereas TA and Poston have spent a great deal.

I say F$#K'em. MY MONEY IS ON THE BUICK FAITHFUL.

Rockers that one could adjust while running would be radical. But the B4B reproduction was such B.S. I even read on here somewhere that the little grid that is cast onto the floor under the carb was still located rearward for the regular performer carb location. Olds, Pontiac, Even Cadillac have a new dual plane, what a crock.

edelbrock quality is ok but from what I've heard unless you port the heck out of them their heads actually flow less than a modified set of irons at least for the mopar/pontiac/olds varieties. also have to agree with d-con , why when all the super trick sb/bb chevy heads have shaft, would you want stud mount individuals. :Dou:

Hmmm...Chevy guys designing Buick heads. I hope they figured out the differences in oiling between 400/430s and the 455s

Yeah, but the money you can save on adjustable rockers will be nice...but then again I wonder how much R&D has been actually spent on these???I'd say a new single plane intake would be a better thing to make for both 350's and 455's.

Sorry, being a former 5.0 fanatic, I love Edelbrock intakes, but for my little Buick, they can keep their aluminum and its TA for my next 455!!!

I think this is a good thing. The bulldog head may go away but a cheaper E head would do wonders for medium power level motors. We have to port iron heads now for budget builds. Now we have options.

I think Edelbrock has thought this through.

Buick big blocks are very powerful when they have good heads. These days many people know this. I think the BBB will start showing up in all kinds of rides.

Wondering about something. I've read a lot here how heads are the most important thing on a BBB. I want disagree with that, but my question is isn't that true for pretty much all motors. Or does that apply to BBB's more than say a BB Chivvy or BB Mopar? If it applys more to a BBB more than the others why is that??

    I saw one.

I saw one of the Edelbrock 455 heads at the SEMA show this year. I am not trying to promote or demote, but the heads look very good. The rep said the reason for the chevy rockers was to take advantage of the multitude of rockers available in all different prices and quality levels. You can't really tell anything by looking at it without a "portable flow bench" but the bowls look very smooth and blended, with a nice short side radius and very clean guide blend. I would very much like to see some flow numbers and prices. The Edelbrock rep would not give me a price.

Man this is great news. I can't wait to see them. NOW WE NEED AN AIR GAP RPM. The current dual planes only offer a 10hp advantage at best.

I think this is awesome. May finally drive the price of alluminum castings to a decent price. Edelbrock is the more/less the leader in performance parts, they have the latest and greatest machinery, and probably some of the R&D stuff available. I'm thrilled.Edelbrock quality is top notch too.

I fail to see why some of you are griping like this is a bad thing, and already writing off their parts as garbage. I think the Chevy rockers is genius. Lets face it, Shaft mount rockers suck. Why would anybody be upset about this? For the longest time us Buick guys have been begging for some aftermarket attention, finally starting to get some and you guys have the nerve to criticize Edelbrock. Bulldog isn't going out of business either, they make heads for all types of motors, not just buicks. this probably won't hurt them much.

The Chevy rockers and the Edelbrock name is why they will sell. Edelbrocks will be available in catalogs everywhere for people to see, unlike TA and Bulldog. I may have a rare set of heads! I bought Bulldog heads and don't think they will sell many more with these out now. Like I said before, Go Edelbrock! Keep pumping out Buick parts!
