Very nice build i have so many questions on this build i currently have 2 motors and un decided which to use. You said truck manifolds what years.
and they welded the ends .... how big of pipe running up to the turbo ....what size down pipe after the turbo ..... di you buy the motor mounts or make them

    1. The truck manifolds are all the same for the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0, just find a set without the egr/air tube coming off the manfolds.

    2. I cant remember what size pipe we ran from the manifold into the turbo, either 2 or 2 1/4 from each side merging into one

    3. The cold side piping of the turbo is 3in from the turbo to the throttle body, and the exhaust of the turbo is 4in piping

    4. My motor mounts were completely fab'd up but you can buy mounts from jegs and edelbrock to drop the motor in...i had mine custom built so that i could have the motor as far back and low as possible for better handling and weight transfer

Just wondering if you have been to the dyno yet? What kinda numbers did you get?

they just welded the stainless right to the cast manifolds ??? have you been driving it or raced it yet

    1. No dyno yet, but the car sounds good and is just waiting to be tuned (hopefully this week)...the guy that is going to tune my car hurt his hand about a month ago and found out he had some disease, minears? spelling?, something to do with virtigo and inner ear...it messed him up good but hes finally recovering

    2. Yes they just welded the ss to the cast, the guy that did all the hard labor on this build is a master fabricator and is just plain bad a$$ at welding. For people not comfortable with this and worried about cracking (and if mine does in time) you can buy v-band clamps with ss on one side, and cast on the other

by looking at the pictures i see no pwr steering was that by choice or had to be done to fit the left side piping ?? I work for buick pontiac gmc truck we did a aps turbo on a 05 gto completly stock eng no meth injection it made 608 at the wheels and ran 10.4 at 130 i think you guess for hp will be way more than you think :TU:

The car already had manual steering box from the previous procharger setup (although pwr steering could be used if you wanted)

The car (when i have it lol) is my DD, and i will just be keeping in on 5lbs of boost untill i get some forged rods and pistons in it next winter. BUT the dyno that my tuner has is the lowest reading brand of dynos on the market..Dyno Dynamics...he says you can have up to a 20 percent loss/shown power as the higher reading ones, but hey its still the same power in the end.

IE..last motor made 776hp (engine dyno) on 12lbs of boost, then on the engine dyno, with 10 lbs of boost it only put 464 to the wheels

After 6 years of owning this car its been rightfully named the BITCH

short video of it running, cheap camera but good enough.

Big ass -an lines, the meziere pump for this is really quiet (can barely hear even with motor off) but flows ALOT of volume.

Painted all the old wheels black, much better than the fading and rusting chrome.

All the new guages! I def. like them and they are really bright.

bone stock 6.0 out of wrecked escalade, only additions were rod bolts, timing chain, springs, and pushrods (and of course the turbo)

This is on a dyno dynamics dyno which is the most stingy dyno on the market....fyi, 464 procharger made 767hp on engine dyno (12 lbs), and only laid down 460 on chassis dyno (10 lbs)

New motor ^^^ (73k miles used lol)
    360 rwhp 3.5 psi
    450 rwhp 7.5 psi
    475 rwhp 8.5 psi

and this morning were going to bump it up to 10 psi and leave it alone

so far picking up 20rwhp per psi

Is that the wheel dyno numbers or engine dyno?

pretty damn good for first time out. enough mph to run high tens all day. Great build. Unless people are paying for your project, their opinions matter as much as herpes to someone on hospice with AIDs.

That is a great number for a used motor ep where it has the stock cam in it. did you dyno it at 10 psi ????

This post has made me ges my but in gear ..... i have 2 motors 6.0 that has been stroked to 6.6 and a 6.2 that is stock i e mailed some pics to my engine builder and he loved the photo,s esp the stock manifolds

so i am going to use the 6.2 alluminum block the stroker crank. rods some new pistons should give me 6.8 liter a new turbo/blower cam hopefully make 500 at the wheels also GOTTA LOVE THOSE HAIR DRYERS

thanks man, my goal was just 10.9 with pump gas and a daily driver.

No we never dyno'd it at 10 psi, that will come in a month or so, the shop wanted to take it to 10 but i wanted to get used to the power again before i went any higher, after one day of driving im ready to turn it up already lol...as the year goes on the boost will keep getting turned up and near the end of the race season some race gas and high boost is getting thrown at it.

Its not the stock cam for this motor, its a ls6 cam on a 112 center, which is actually not the best for boost, would be better if i left it on the stock 117 center.

Coming from me on here its funny saying its your car so do what you want lol, but if you 6.0 is the iron block it would prob be better to use it over the 6.2 aluminum if your ever going to turn the power up alot. If 500rwhp is your goal, and even 600rwhp youll be fine with the aluminum and wont take much boost to do so.

This winter im hoping to put a stroker kit in this motor like you, or atleast just get a good set of rods and pistons in the current motor if it doesnt blow. Forged motor and 650rwhp is the goal for next year...on pump gas lol

What type of tuner did you use ?? we have a dyno shop here in MA i have never seen any natural aspirated cars make 1 hp per cubic inch at the wheel kinda seen a few come real close but it makes you realize that you have to have some type of forced induction or the result maybe tail lights all the time. did you ever try to lock up the converter when dynoing or at the track .... i saw a dyno with home made twin turbo,s in a 280z with a ferrari kit on it, totally home made exhaust a 441 stroker chevy motor on the last run he used the lock up on his 4l80 and it made 30 more hp and 100 ftlbs i almost fell on the floor turbo,s seem to love the load. So i asked him do you use it at the track he said ya but only in 3rd a week later the dyno shop told me he ran 9.1 at 162 and drove it to and from the track WOW he was using a meth kit with 93 octane CRAZY cant wait to here how it goes as the boost goes up . bet she holds 12 to 14 psi dam good GREAT JOB and i bet the drivability is second to none :TU: :beers2:
