Well, i have sold the old buick motor and have done away with the procharger and the twin turbo setups. So whats going in now? A chebby:eek2:! Its an iron block LS2 motor which is essentially a LQ9 truck motor. Right now, just to get all the conversion stuff done it is going in the car completely stock except for it has been changed to use a cable operated throttle body instead of the electronic version, and the whole front serpentine system is gone, i am using an electric water pump and low mount alternator. Ill have to take a pic of the new reworked harness (which gets rid of all the factory sensors that i do not need for my setup and conversion) and upload them later. But here are pics of the new oil pan to fit my A-body (7qts vs. 4.5) pickup, conversion motor mounts to fit sbc mounts to the LS motor, and oil filter relocation kit. The only parts that i need left is the water pump and twin external fuel pumps with wiring harness. Then everything else will be fabricated or just be small parts like fittings and stuff like that.
You can find them at all different prices depending on miles, what you want with it, and trans. I paid $2000 for the motor, wiring harness, 130 amp alternator, pcm, 4l80 trans and converter

Not being rude when i say this but i think i made the buick run when it dyno'd at 776 hp:beers2: . Not real high hp by racing means but still more power than what 90+% of the buick street cars see. The new sutup will be atleast 700hp to the wheels to start off then probably 850 in the end, and its still all going to be on pump gas and ill be pulling down 20+ miles to the gallon.
Well whenever you get it done my son will try & give your car a run for the money with his Procharged Buick powered Skylark 4000 lb. streetcar. The one with the baby seat in the back and it is certified to 7:50! He will never go that fast with this motor but I know the car is super safe for the 150mph speeds.
Sounds like a deal lol. But it will be next year before the "fast" setup is here. It takes a lil time when you 20 and in school. But i think my lil old 80mm turbo will like the challenge.
here we go. i am looking at a ls for my old vette. those engines are amazing for the power they put out and the gas mileage. i understand the buick thing. i will keep my nailhead in my skylark. however, it is his car and he can put anything in it he wants. to me there is nothing wrong with new tech in old vehicles. good luck buick46270 and keep smiling. it is going to get ugly. jim
Ah its ok. Everyone has their loyalty to certain brands. And anyone that knows me knows that im not into nor care about hurting peoples feelings and just do what i want and bellieve. I love my buick car, and will never get rid of it, but im really just a hot rodder and keeping that part allive, adapting different parts to get the best of both worlds. And from the last post talking about the 80mm turbo, i guess ill go ahead and tell the future plans. First thing ill be doing is ripping the motor out and doing a 408 stroker kit, some stock L92/LS3 heads (300+cfm), pretty big cam, and edelbrocks new xfi intake. Then ill decide if ill go the turbo route or just a big 2 stage of nitrous.
Cool project to me a LS motor is a corporate motor and i don't think it to be chevy, if you did put a sbc that would be a different story.It is real tempting with the LS power mileage and reliability.Good luck with it and looking forward to more updates. Jamie

Better check those Milodon welds really good.....I had a failure on a oil pick up that cost me $4K to fix......:blast:
paul is right. the rubber gasket of the pickup to the pump needs to be square. some people are elongating the middle and last bolt holes on the pickup rod. this puts less stress on the rubber gasket on the pickup. i guess, i don't know for sure some people attach the back bolt then the middle bolt first. this causes the gasket to be stressed allowing the pickup to suck air. for perfect info check with a ls mechanic. other than that i have heard nothing else wrong. jim

And come on, I know some of yall hate me for ditching the buick motor, but no faith in me winning with 700hp to the wheels with a 4k stall and strans brake? I pulled this motor out of a Cadillac Escalade, so atleast i stayed with GM class lol. My rear end is also out of a Oldsmobile 4-4-2, anyone going to give me slack about that? Its all GM in the end:eek2:
I don't hate you for ditching the BBB! Why not install a souped up Nissan engine with dual turbos and 1000 hp? The new Hot Rod has one in a vintage Camaro. Then you can be like the kid on Fast and furious Tokoyo with his Shelby/Toyota thing.
Cool project. I love Buick products but I agree with you, for me too its all about Hot Rodding. Lots of things to try run so do it while and if you can! Love to see updates. Mike
Why not, that motor in the camaro has about the came power that ill be building and its just a 6 cylinder, then i could still beat all the hatred people with 2 less cylinders and give yall something else to bs about. Honestly, if you dont like what im doing, o well i really dont care and wouldnt be doing it if i did or wanted to conform to what everyone thinks is right or loyal. On that note, for the poeple that actually like this and want to know info or anything about the build, setup, or fabrication just ask and ill give any info i can, and take whatever pics that i can during the build.
what turbo are you planning on? is it going to be intercooled give us some more info,seems like a interesting project? I was wondering why all your stuff was for sale
