Replaced the distributor and I am still not getting a spark? The coil. distributor, cap, rotor, condenser, points, wires, plugs are all new. The battery is new and the cables are clean. The battery was charged completely and I am still not getting a spark. Now I am really confused and getting rather irritated at the whole thing. Can I run some sort of jumper wire from the battery to the coil? I think that is about the only way I can figure out if maybe there is a problem with the wires from the battery to the starter, coil, distributor. Appreciate all the help.

Thanks I will try to rig up some sort of quick connect between the two. Is there any particular gauge wire that I should use? Thanks

I also replaced the TVS or TCS with a ported vacuum tee and new hoses. I ran the distributor vacuum to the middle nipple marked "D" the bottom nipple marked "1" to the splitter with one going to the manifold vaccum and one going to the air filter and the top nipple marked "2" to the carburetor. I was getting a reading of 50 from the manifold and hooked the vacuum gauge up to the brake booster hose and got a reading of 19 in order to max out the setting for the carburetor. It ran fine up until the point where I turned it off and then it no longer started. The only thing I messed with up to that point was taking the connector off of the oil pressure switch and cleaning it out with some WD40. There was alot of lube on the new set of points that were on the new rotor and I did not wipe it off. They were gapped well and when I get back down there I now have my timing light and can check the dwell with it.

Why don't you bypass the vacuum tree and just plug all the vacuum lines at the carb until you get it running right... none of them are needed for what your problem is.

I have the one from the carb blocked off with a golf tee right now and my plan was to leave them that way for awhile. I was just hoping that removing the TVS did not cause me any problems. I read that it did not matter in idle, 1st or 2nd anyhow. And I did not have any problems without it. All started when I turned the car off. I will hopefully be able to look at it tomorrow and run that jujmper wire though. Thanks again.

As long as all that vacuum mess is bloicked properly so there is no vacuum leak, you can get it to 95% before you reconnect to anything...

Got it running again. Seems when I put the new coil in I pinched the wires. Ran the voltmeter from both sides of the coil and had continuity, battery to coil, no continuity. Ran a wire from the battery to the coil and started right up. Unpinched the wires and now it starts again. And on the first try even . Instead of trying to drive it home though I think I am going to invest in the super AAA membership and use the 200 mile tow to get it home. It runs great around town but with the lifter noise still I am afraid to try the big hill up to my house. On a side note I used the new Turtle Wax liquid polish. It lives up to its billing I can tell you that much. Put four coats on the Lark, 1 on my uncles Fiero, and 1 on my Sunfire and only used about 1/8 of the bottle. I really like this stuff and glad that it was everything the commercials said it was. Their liquid clay works really well also but you have to really wash the car good to get it all off. If it were not for the chips in the Lark the paint would only look a couple years old, still better than the 35 year old paint that it is though, even shines now!!!

Great news, great news. Decided to heck with it and hopped in and drove it home! And it made it. When I called my mother in law and uncle it sounded like I won the lottery and everyone was amazed. Slowest it got down to was 50 mph on the steepest part of the grade and the pedal was mashed. Backfired a couple of times when deaccelerating? Took my foor off of the gas and as it was slowing it backfired, sounded like from the muffler area. Lots of smoke when I stopped at the gate, but this morning it showed the oil level was same as it was yesterday when changed the oil with some 20/50 and 16 oz of Marvel Mystery. Now on to the ticking noise that is coming from the passenger side valve cover. Was hoping that it was a stuck lifter and the Marvel would break it free, but not yet or thats not the problem? THanks to all for the help, specially Sean. I almost gave up on this beast and actually bought a 75 Nova :Do No: . I am just going to flip the Nova and use the money on the Lark. Thanks again all!!
