I'm glad to hear Bobb and Amy are headed home. Definitely the first step on the road to recovery.

Bobb's accident has caused alot of Buick racers in our Michigan club to re-evaluate what safety measures we take. Our Race programs will change for the better because of what happened. I know that I am throwing my open-face helmet in the trash and I'm going to make damn sure my car meets or exceeds all NHRA requirements for my ET and Speed.

I know that Bobb closely followed the NHRA rulebook when he built his car and it probably saved his life. NHRA writes the rules around real life incidents and they are there to protect the racer (sometimes from themselves).

Not Quite, but close, he is actually in a rehabilitation center in Grand Rapids Michigan, still has a long road in front of him but definitly heading in the correct direction. Amy will be able to be at home, and Anthony will be able to visit his dad with her. As well as parents and friends from home. Nothing personal against Deleware & the fine people from there but theres nothing like having him in his home state and closer to home.
I would to personally THANK Paul Manuel, for all he has done to help out Bobb and Amy as well as the extended Buick family, you are definitly a class act. And I'm proud to know you and everyone else who has helped out as well. THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! John Stevens

Paul, I want to thank you also, for all you did for Bobb and Amy, you are a great friend and asset to the Buick family. A big hug to you and yours for all your help, if I could have stayed I would have, but you filled the shoes, the rest of us couldn't due to our other obligations. Thanks again, hey email me your snail mail address, we will put you on the Michigan Buick Performance Club membership list so you get our newsletter and keep up with things here, THANKS AGAIN!!!!! >>> John,
I knew by the way you were waving to me that something bad had happened and by time I ran down the hill and still couldn't see Bob's car I got scared and we couldn't get his door open as it was jammed. Thankfully the next couple guys down turned off the power to his car.

I gotta tell ya John the sight of Bob pinned in that car has been with me since last Saturday and I thank god and there by the grace of god that car didn't catch fire cause I don't know what you and I would have done. We would have had to just yank him out of the window at all costs, but thank god that didn't happen and Bob if alive, although hurt and sore and will recover and that's all that counts.

We talked about the accident at dinner on the way back and I am putting a parachute on my car probably before the year is out as we can all lose our brakes at anytime and being as tho I have a rebuilt truck master cyclinder in my car and hit 136mph last week I am not taking any chances whatsoever.

John love to meet ya again under better circumstances and have a beer.

Glad to hear Bob is recovering and wish him all the best.

    Rich, John, etc.

Can we start a new post on brake configurations for race cars? Cause mine needs work too. So I am going to start it, and lets go there, and leave this post to Bobb updates. K? RV

And Rich, thanks for being there with John and Bobb, as scary as it was, at least Bobb was able to see someone he knew, and even if you couldn't help him get out of the car, well enough of that..., you were there, and that's what counts.. THANKS!

Which rehabilitation center is Bobb at? Mary Freebed? I work in G.R. and would like to stop by and see if I can do anything to help out.

Got a phone message on my cell, this morning, my personal phone, I don't usually take to work, but did on Tuesday in case Amy needed anything. The message was from Amy, thanking us all again and again, and how much she appreciated everything we did for them! She even said she can't say it enough, how much we all did to help out! So once again Thanks to everyone, she said Bobb wants to be home so bad, that he will probably cut to the chase and may be home by the weekend, he wants to be better so bad, which is great news! and as soon as he is home and can get around, we will probably hear from him more than once on the board, maybe twice, maybe all day, if he can! Love you all. R

    Saw Bobb and Amy tonight

I stopped by Bobb's room for a few minutes tonight.

Bobb is really happy to be back in Michigan. He looks like he's had the a** kicking of a lifetime, but he was sitting up and talking.

He's one tough hombre. He looked me right in the eye and explained the broken leg, ribs, arm, jaw, and then said he was doing pretty good!!!!!!!

I told him that you were all thinking of him. I also mentioned the new concern for safety expressed on this board, and he got pretty emotional.

Bobb seemed to think he might be at this facility for about a week. cards can be sent to:

Mary Free Bed Hospital & Rehab
    Bobb Mackley
    Room 304
    350 Lafayette Ave Se
    Grand Rapids, MI 49503

    please take it easy!!!!

    :Smarty:

I just got off the phone with Amy, and she requested that we PLEASE NOT send cards to Bobb's room, as his stay is not going to be as long as first thought. Amy would prefer things be sent to their home instead of to the rehab center.

Any one feeling the need to call the room or visit Bobb NEEDS to contact Amy at home instead of calling the Rehab center.

Bobb is there to heal and gain strenth, and needs to spend time concentrating on his therapy and with his Family.

Amy understands that all of us want to help and hear that Bobb is okay and healing fast. Right now rest and rehab are the most important things for Bobb, we can all visit soon when he is feeling stronger and back home.

    Thanks for your understanding. :TU:
