I didn't go out there today but a friend of mine said that the water is no longer covering the track and some of the local racers are helping to clean up things as required. I have been laid off for 16 months and just got called back to work (2 weeks ago) or I would be there.

    Just as a courtesy,

I am still getting calls from people asking if I will be bringing parts to the GSCA Nats next week. So far the guys calling are not computer-savvy and had no idea of the flooding issues.

They were all grateful for the update and I let them know about the rescheduled dates in October. All seemed interested in attending the rescheduled event.

Anyway, the point I am trying to make is there are probably other guys out there that don't know about this, and would really appreciate a phone call with an update.

So if anyone knows someone like this maybe you could give them a call and save them a trip.

If it was me and I was the GSCA I would definately send out a postcard to all who registered to let them know what happened. .......Im just sayin...:Smarty:

I agree, Mike. But that would be too much like right....

I've tried to call what chicagoland members are not on-line, kinda hard to remember who you see there or not.

I called the Michigan folks, and some have called, me. One was just vending, that called said Matt had called him, so the word is getting around. But really good point!:TU:

Comfort Inn is a classy place. They called me to say they had cancelled my reservation before I had a chance to call them. And changed the date to October. I was impressed and sure will stay there in the future. I picked them because the GSCA rate was cheaper than their internet price, so they are supporting the club too.

I talked to Richard again tonight for 45 mins,,,they will be making a post on the GSCA board in regards to pre-registration and their refund policy etc....all it take is a phone call to find out what is going on... I did suggest that they post on other sites so that everyone who is internet savy will know....as with the BPG there are numerous members who do not visit the net...so if you know of anyone,,,reach out to them and let them know....Richard did tell me that a number of hotels had reached out to those that had reservations that the event was canceled...

The track announcer from Beech Bend said on the radio tonight that Beech Bend is planning for drag racing on the 16th of May 2010 if at all possible. Guess I will see if it happens and be one of those going down the track.

I was called yesterday before lunch, so they (GSCA) are trying to notify those who pre-registered.:TU:

I'm sure they will set up free public vaccinations for tetnus and certain Hep. strains like we had to get.

Sitting in water in by itself should not really harm the structure. I don't know if it was hit my river currents though. THAT would stress it out believe me.

Unfortunately many people in this country now understand flooding. :( I always feel for them (even the ones who sad ignorant stuff). Our cousin who is a recent transplant to Nashville summed it up to his neighbors like this: "Hell, it's just a few feet of water in the house. No wind. Aint no bodies or roofs floating by. Just stock up on beer and start gutting." :beer
It's gonna take a long time for things to get sorted. How many folks up there carry flood insurance? Some people down here are STILL FIGHTING their insurers!!!! I pray for it to improve for y'all!!!!!!!!:)
