All one needs to do is cut the steering wheel to remove any such device.

Even with the "Boot", lifting that end of the car onto one of those cheap trailers that drag two of the 4 wheels will defeat this device. We can try and try but nothing is fool proof as long as there are fools wanted to steal cars. Armed guard is the only thing that would allow me to sleep soundly. :blast:

The AUTO TASER should do the trick. Though I believe it is no longer available (try e-bay). Sold out at this time on one site and discontinued on another. Still searching. I guess if you kill the SOB in your car that can get you in some hot water. The whole idea is to throw as much crap in their way that they go elsewhere. Granted if they want your car they will plan for it and they will get it. But with a boot and a column lock and kill switch not to mention a motion detector to alert you will no doubt lower the chance extremely. Making most would be theives go elsewhere for a score. Below is the taser add; ( http://www.finalstop.com/pepper/autotaser/autotaser.htm ) If they don't know what it is they will be quite surprised trying to hacksaw around it.

Introducing an automotive security system that is on the defensive. The AUTO TASER is the first anti-theft system to actively punish any thief who tries to tamper with your vehicle. Simply lock the AUTO TASER on your steering wheel and arm it with your coded remote control. Only you can activate/deactivate the AUTO TASERs electron field with your rolling-code remote control. If the AUTO TASERs ultra sensitive vibration detectors sense an intruder, a screeching 120 to 130 decibel alarm is sounded as a warning before aggressive countermeasures are initiated. Five seconds later, a field of electrons completely surrounds the unit. Any attempt to touch the AUTO TASER zaps the thief with an unforgettable, yet non-lethal 5,900 milliwatt (50,000 volt) electron

AUTO TASER Model 54000. Includes: AUTO TASER
    Remote Control
3 Shims for Different Size Wheels
    Insurance Reduction Certificate
    2 Window Stickers.

    $199.95 each

A hidden fuel cut off and ignition ground will help.
Also look into a mercury switch wired to a silent alarm.

This combo is simple and tough to defeat.

If you have something really pricey to protect, add GPS tracking with a secondary power source to the above.

They may take it but you will quickly find them.

    Larry-
Where did you get that nice looking Cargard column lock? I haven't been able to find anything except a red one at simjack.com. Will yours fit a full size?

I bought it in a parts store. They didn't have one listed for the 70 GS, I took a chance on it. It doesn't fit as tight around the column as I'd like, but it cannot be removed, which is what I want. Here's the box it came in. I would imagine the CG-1AC would be the same, they don't seem to make the part # I have anymore, probably the same thing.

I've been watching this topic since the start, and I know how it feels to lose something you've worked hard to attain.
In 1974 I had an all original 69 Z28 stolen from in front of the house. They took it in the daytime with a tow truck. My neighbor thought I was having work done to it. It was found, completely stripped a few weeks later. And I mean stripped, even the quarters were gone.
What I wanted to bring to everyone's attention, is the possibility that these thieves could be lurkers on this and other forums. I frequent another forum for one of my cars, and there's been a couple of thefts where the items taken were ones that had been talked about on the forum.
If you're using some kind of anti theft system on your car, you may not want to broadcast too many details about it.
I have mine protected in several ways, but those details will be a surprise to those who try to steal it.

Thank you Gary-that information is of very good use to us. Now,it's up to all of us to try to identify what is ours. Depending on what these idiots did to deface the stolen goods,it won't be easy, but at least the authorities caught someone, hopefully it's the same guys who stole our stuff. If they are,we can invite them for a lynching party they will never forget.

    Carl,
Did "The Authorities" catch someone on YOUR case, or was this in general on other information in this thread?

JR,my trailer is the same case involving John Csordas' car and Doug Hecker's truck. As of now,I haven't heard anything from the authorities. This apphrension that took place in Tulsa, maybe linked to our case. I guess we'll have to wait and find out.

    Poster update

John, Carl and Doug, just an update, I have gone out on three occassions and put up posters all around the area. Even at the little convenience store by the Crystal Inn, all of the local truckstops, all of the convenience stores along Rt 40...I did this on the Wednesday after the incident and each weekend since. Each time I go out, some of the posters are missing, so I plaster them back up.
    Keeping my fingers crossed.

improvement: some inter-autoforum email network where one person posts (say this was the first site the missing 71 was posted at) it'd send an email to the site admin of all the other car websites in the network and they could make a sticky/forum announcement/etc out of it.

Paul, thanks for all you do for the Buick folks, it's a great feeling that we have such great friends, like you, and you repeat yourself for all you did last year for Bobb and Amy, and I applaud you for that again, and again!!! :TU: and for the lastest issue, you are the best! Thanks, RV

Paul, please keep an eye on the locations where the posters disappear and follow whoever takes them down. That's our thief! Don't even ask any questions. Just open fire. Seriously, thanks much for your efforts. :TU:
