I bought my '60 Electra 225 convertible a year ago from a guy in Indian Head , Maryland , for $1,750. It was on Ebay with a buy it now for that amount. Without flinching , I pressed the BIN ,'cause I knew the European collectors in Norway and Sweden would be all over it! A factory Chalet Blue ,bucket seat car built in L.A. California.Running very good, slightly rusty floor, rusty outer rockers which were replaced. But the rest of it, really solid. I always had wanted one of these and my chance came up-I WENT FOR IT!

69 Electra convert, kinda rough, bought for $1800.00 in 2001, sold it for $2500.00 two years later. :beer

64 Skylark convert, bought for $3500.00 one week after selling the Electra, spent about $1,000.00 on parts, and just sold it last month for.........$3550.00 :Dou:

64 Skylark 2 door parts car, real rust bucket, bought for $325.00 US, dropped the engine/trans into the vert, stripped what was usable, and sent it to crusher. :spank:

68 Electra 4 door, runs and drives, bought for $800.00 in 2003, has been sitting in my yard ever since. I move it once or twice a year, still have it. Probably going to part it out eventually. :Do No:

65 Gran Sport, bought for $5500.00 US in 2004 (from the board), drove 1700 miles one way to pick it up, drove another 1700 miles home on a trailer. Still have it, not likely to sell anytime soon. :TU:

Next on my list, I want to find a nice 67 GS convert, maybe in 2007 if all works out.

Knowing nothing about cars and less still about old cars let alone old american muscle cars I went naively to a dealer in Hollywoord. They had my lovely skylark out there shining amongst the beaten up old charger, the baby blue galaxy convertible and the gold barracuda fastback. It was love at first sight. I paid $13500 for her. She has been running great ever since. Despite being ripped off by numerous dodgy mechanics I still love her. I have now found someone who at least does the work properly even if he is expensive. He used to look after a famous film director's classic car collection so he seems to know what he is doing. I have learnt a lot along the way and hope to continue to do so. If I had the time and space and if she wasnt my daily driver I would work more on her myself.. but I have none of these right now.
I am sure I paid way over the odds but she is in great shape, the body is great, the paintwork great. Now I have fixed up the brakes and cooling things are looking better still. Just need to pay some attention to the suspension, interior and rubber window seals and it will be perfect.

I got my '82 Chevy 350 3-speed manual pickup (It was a 6 cyl auto when it left the factory) for exactly $800. That is the amount that it's owner needed for bail money for his second Rhode Island drug bust. In retrospect, I paid too much, but the guy got off and has been gainfully employed by a local salvage yard for several years - maybe it was worth it.
As Yardley says: "about a billionth of what I have in it." And I'm just getting started.

In early '06 I paid $10k for my '01 LeSabre Limited (26k mi at the time) - fortunately most of that was paid via the lady that let her parked car total my Regal.

Paid $2500 this spring for my '81 Electra Park Ave (always garaged, it just had the tranny rebuilt, and is in very nice condition for an unrestored original)

In 2001 I bought the 67 you see in my Avastar for $2000. It was a generally rust free car that was running and driving with AC and buckets seats and unmolested. Now I made a race care out of it and have had fun with it ever since.
