X2 on that !

Race relations have been set back 20 years by these turn of events. I have many friends of color and it is now very hard to talk about these events with them...so i don't.......but i feel tension where there has been NONE for a long time....i did not feel it before all this happened and the biased media coverage helped fan the flames

Peace WildBill

Bingo! It is in someone's interest to perpetuate the problem. Politically, our duly elected representatives. Socially, people like good old revs Al and Jesse. Most of the persons of color I know can't stand either one of them, because they just make matters worse. As long as the tension is held high, it's just like the magician's sleight of hand. Something is being taken that this foment is covering up.

It's really not that bad and has not turned into a pissing match. The forum owner seems to be ok with it. You can always avoid this thread if you don't like it. :Brow:

I think that this thread has struck a chord, and that the comments have been beneficial, overall. People getting all het up and inflammatory is what shuts a thread down.

Sounds more like the call was accepted for a FEMALE caller vs male , unless dad was face timing how does some secretary know what his ethnicity is ? And is that really the basis of your bias?

My dad sounds like Vlad the Impaler. Fact is that she discounted him because he's a friggin' foreigner.

And what bias do you speak of?

Sorry Diego, but that line cracked me up. Never heard that comparison before. I have many Italian friends, who came over 'on the boat' (legally, of course) and they have never lost their dialect either. They came here and worked the factories by day and ran their shops at night until the shops could make enough to support their families. Then they invested wisely. They helped set me up in business and I will be forever grateful. I understand and respect what your Father has experienced and his success. He also raised a good Son.

or it could be that the lawyer was actually not in when he called and came back when she called. or maybe his english was so bad they just didnt want to deal with him. Its not all 'racism' or 'ethnic discrimination'. Bars can refuse service to any customer for any reason. So can you in your business if they feel a customer is more trouble than they are worth.. If they do refuse you, it isnt automatically racism or sexism or genderism, or 'homophobia' . Q: What do you call avoiding people who are homophobic? A: homophobiaphobiia. hahaha This PC stuff is crippling our nation.

This is something I read this morning, a view from a police officers son and yes that picture is the real deal.

Imagine yourself, 13 years old, Christmas day. Your dad was executed 5 days earlier, assassinated, shot in the head at point blank range without a fighting chance. For what? For doing his job. For donning the uniform. For wearing the badge. For keeping chaos, unrest, and animosity at bay every single day. For serving an ungrateful and violent public.

Imagine yourself looking underneath the Christmas tree at a gift with a tag on it saying, "From Dad", only knowing his funeral is next week.

Imagine your Dad being blatantly murdered at the hands of a crazed and radical individual, driven by media and political-instilled hate all because he wears a Police Officer's uniform.

Now, imagine yourself, a newly wed, ready to get your life on track with the love of your life. 2 months of marriage under your belt and you and your husband are planning your first Christmas together as a married couple. While out Christmas shopping for him, you get a phone call saying your husband has been shot and is in the hospital fighting for his life, only to find out he'd died in his patrol car for no reason.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a reality we of the law enforcement community live with day by day. Every Police Officer's goal at the end of the day isn't to screw you over for a speeding ticket or to pick on you because you're black, red, purple, white, a dog, or anything.

Their goal at the end of the day is to come home safe to the loving, embracing arms of their families at home. That is it.

So while you sit there, sympathizing with the criminals and becoming part of the problem by saying, "Hands up, don't shoot" or "I can't breathe" and preaching an ignorant and biased agenda against an individual who would willingly die for you in an instant, no matter if you like them or not; while you sit there with hate and distaste over the fact that they are "all racist" and they can hide behind the badge and without mercy, murder anyone they please-while you sit there and bask in all the hatred that has been ignited this past year, understand that they will ALWAYS be there to help you.

How could anyone have the audacity to hate the protectors? The unseen heroes of every day life?

Matthew 5:9-
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God."

God bless NYPD Officer Liu-EOW 12/20/2014
God bless NYPD Officer Ramos-EOW 12/20/2014
Godspeed gentlemen, your deaths will not be in vain.

-Signed, the grateful son of an oath keeping Peace Officer.

What about the two Los Vegas cops executed by Jerad and Amanda Miller this past June? After killing officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo at a pizzeria, the pair stripped them of their weapons and ammunition. They left a swastika, a Revolutionary War-era Dont Tread On Me flag and a note proclaiming, The revolution is beginning, on the fallen officers. I couldnt find it, but all that are outraged on this thread, were you equally outraged and vocal over this one? Did you think what their familys Christmas is going to be like this year? Just curious. You're not reading between the lines - she totally dismissed my dad by not offering some kind of customer service. She made no effort to say when her boss was coming back, didn't offer to take a message, or anything like that. But, 30 seconds later, he was on the phone with my dad's gf.

And my dad used to work for the FDA - do you think his English would be so bad for that job?

These things happen. No one is pointing a finger at you and blaming your ilk, but please don't use the opportunity to get on your PC soapbox because it's the wrong moment for that - just like the impetus for fighting against institutional injustices should not be the death of a 18 year-old criminal.

Sadly, these "discussions" are causing divides in white familes (probably blacks too). At my Dad's wake this past weekend somehow we started talking about all this and I said Michael Brown had just robbed a convenience store and tried get get ahold of the officer's gun, charged him and the officer didn't know if he was armed. I instantly get labeled a racist by my own family.

Think about it. You are crying racism/bigotry because your dad got bad customer service from a phone girl at a law firm. You immediately conclude it must be racism. Yet you call me PC? You dont even know what team you are on. Sometimes, more often than not, bad customer service is just bad customer service.
