I'm in for a set. Make mine orange, and for God's sake, please keep the flat portion of the collector flange towards the ground!
It can be done, when I put the 69 back to stage 2 configuration I inquired into it and found a orange that was close. They said I'd have to buy the whole gallon of coating since he doubted if he'd ever have a request again. Gary
That's good to know, Gary! Do you think the color was close enough that people would be happy with it? Also, do you have any good color pictures of some original M/T's to show what the color should be? I have an original magazine ad and magazine article but you can't trust the color in them. And I have some pictures of the Motion GSX that Then & Now restored with it's orange painted M/T repros. And I have one picture that I think I got from you. See below:
I'll tell you, I love my M/T Headers but man I also hate them. It is a true love/hate relationship. No ground clearance. You look under the car and all you see is collector. Hopefully you never need to look at tranny or starter. Is so put the jack stands to their highest position. Also, that flange, I know crack was not invented yet in the late 60's when these things were designed, but still, what were they on when they designed that flange?
The originals had a 4-bolt round flange so they didn't have the "point" sticking straight down. Maybe (as suggested in a previous post) the new repros could have the "point" of the 3-bolt flange pointing up, with the flat side down.
Actually I wonder if the pointed part of the flange touched the cross member and that's why they pointed it down? I know it comes close.
HOLY COW!!!:eek2: Their polished finish looks exactly like chrome!!! Did you click on their gallery link?! Those designs are amazing!!! I think I'll order both of mine in raw finish so Jet-Hot can put their polish finish on 'em with Buick Red and orange flames near the flanges! :TU:
http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?283947-Possible-New-Run-of-M-T-SS-Headers-Need-Input The new run of MT's is happening if we get enough people to put down deposits!
I ordered mine raw because I'm going to have them coated in orange so they will look like the originals!
Hmm did not know they are in OKC ? "jet-hot" branding gets a huge premium , but might check out the shop sometime and get an estimate. DL
In order to make things easier for everyone, here's the link Mike B. posted on the other thread: http://www.torquetechexh.com/BuickHeaders.html Be aware that you may need to access this website from a desktop or laptop computer because when I clicked on it from my smartphone, I got "Site Not Found." FYI, prices are as follows: Raw Finish - $590 Req Deposit / $786 Total Price Chrome - $671 Req Deposit / $894 Total Price Ceramic Satin Silver - $736 Req Deposit / $981 Total Price Ceramic Polished Silver - $736 Req Deposit / $981 Total Price As of today, they have 4 confirmed orders. Leo
We are holding steady at 5 confirmed orders. We need 17 more but I think the price is keeping some people away. I still hope we can make it happen because I want my bare set so I can get them powder coated orange like the originals. Spread the word, this may be the only chance to have these made for a while...
So I paid for 2 sets of these in July-ish and no headers yet (I know foolish for paying up front, just wanted to stop the money from burning a hole for other things). I tried calling Friday and today and no answer (out of office?). I am kind of worried at this juncture. Seven months is a long time. Anyone have any good info on this. Don't want to wind up losing ALOT of money here. I know these guys have a good rep.
Keith needs 22 confirmed (with deposit) orders before any headers will be made. Unfortunately he only has 5 confirmed and one pending deposit as of today. I will give Keith a call and tell him your concerns. I really thought this would happen but I guess the price is keeping some people away.
Some friends of mine own Jet Hot. Originally, there were locations in Mebane, N.C., Phoenix, Az., and OKC. After they bought the company, I think they closed the OKC plant. I was not aware they opened it back up.
Thanks Jim . I wonder if the web site is not up to date them . I'll definitely call before a road trip . DL
