Ajesh, are you committing to the BPG even with your Suncoupe if it is held there? If the event is at BG, what are your chances to be there? Brad and Ajesh... Have you both registered your Suncoupe with Steve Caruso (Underdog 350) ? If not, I would kindly ask and suggest to do so. He has some nice information to send to you when registering and he has began a valuable process of documenting our quite rare cars. There is no way to tell how many Suncoupes are left. Understanding that Buick had a recall on our cars due to no water drainage provisions, they did not document the number of cars changed. Additionally, we have no idea of how many have been turned into razor blade material. I personally know of 4 Suncoupes that have went to the scrap yard. I am just one person with minimal knowledge (don't anyone jump on this band wagon now, lol). I would like to have the value of our car be properly adjusted for the rarity and the true appreciation they are to drive ! BTW, we have Suncoupe Touring and Chrome Yellow to add to BG. I don't know the VIN of this SunCoupe, but I'm pretty sure it was sent to the crusher. It was off of I-70 in Kansas City in 1990. Man was it in rough shape. I wish I would have saved it!
Any firm, or not so firm plans coming together? I have to put in for my vacation time by this friday. Taking off for the division 5 finals in sept. If the suncoupes arent in bowling green I will probably not attend. Its a long drive from omaha. Brad.
I do believe we need to decide by the end of the month. If only to give everyone time to plan accordingly for vacation requirements. I am thinking that Bowling Green is truly the place to have this event. Not only the nostalga side of the event, but it appears that is the largest participating crowd. Once decided, we need to gather the minds on what we want to do for this event. There have been ideas mentioned about the car show, on how we want to show our cars. Do we want to catagory ourselves wherever we qualify for or have our own class. If we want to have our own class, that will have to be organized through the group that manages the show (I think it is the Carolinas chapter at the Nationals at least). Do we want a special area and day to show our cars off as a special event? There are many possibilities of what we can do, but will take some work to structure it all and we will have to do it ourselves at the Nationals at least. I am not sure what will be done by others at the BPG or Norwalk events. I do feel that we will be welcomed at BG, but need to do our own legwork to organize what we want to do. Mike
I would love to bring my 73 SunCoupe to any event you guys have. I raced the car once at BG (25th anniversary in 05) My problem is I swore never to race it again due to all #'s matching (I mean all even the dist.) I hate going to an event and not racing. The BPG stage 1 reunion was a blast.( Concours Silver) I was miserable tho with no racing.
Phil, Do you ever drive the car out in town? If so, do you realize that it is more dangerous to do that than to race it? When racing, you only have 1 other car to worry about. How many other cars are out on the road to cause issues with your car? Just a thought ! ! ! Mike
Well... New (to me) trans is sitting in the garage. Ordering frame pads and mounts this week. And might have a lead on a local guy to fix the top, that I am going to try and track down this week Mike
