I was surfing earlier and saw that they are doing a 350 build on HorsepowerTV this weekend. I wonder if it will be a decent power maker or not. It looks like they will be using one of the new comp cams for small buicks. Let's just hope it runs good. ray:
Sweet!! I just set up my DVR from my phone to record it! The episode is called "Building the 'other' 350". Hopefully they do it justice. And dont worry taulb, I'll tell ya all about it!!:bla: :moonu:
Watch it on line at http://www.powerblocktv.com/site3/index.php/horsepower-episodes?ep_num=HP2011-13&ep_sea=1102 I am really happy they are building a Buick motor again and I am really hopeful they put up some good numbers ray: I have always liked the 350 but it never gets any attention but I say its far more reliable then its big brother 455.
Well if they use the parts they have on the list there this thing should rock. They are going to at least use a stout cam for it if they use the part number in the list at the web site. Comp Cam part # 92-602-5 9.5:1 comp, 2800+ stall, lobe separation 107*, Dur@.50 243-257, Lift 517-502, 2500-6400 rpm range, A stage 2 Q-Jet, TA intake. About time someone is going to put the 350 out there. Comp Cams has 3 new Big Mutha Thumper cams for the 350. Maybe this will help for some more parts for the 350, we are way overdue.
Wonder why they went with blue? o No: Musclecar got it right when they painted the blue collar's 455, wonder if Tommy can go over and change their mind
If they pulled it out of a later 70's car it would have been blue. 'Spose they just kept it the same.
I DVR it every wk. Hope they do a budget build and still create some good numbers. I can't aford to go crazzy on the engine
I suppose you can only do a 350 SBC build so many times before even the Chevy guys get tired of it. Maybe I can volunteer my car for a 340 SBB build :Brow:
Doesn't that cam seem a little extreme? I seriously don't think they are going to spin this motor past 5500rpm
don't know how many you run 1.65 rockers, but there is a BIG difference in the engine. hopefully they use hooker headers because they are 1 7/8". big difference from using the smaller ones. and hopefully they at least port the heads. if they do this, the little 350 will make a good showing. if not, they are just wasting time and an audience. but if they were really interested in the 350, they should at least asked around about what's been done. maybe they can learn something. just my $.02
Probably going to be the same as the 455 build. They use what ever off the shelf parts they can find and build it the way the sponsors want. Then they complain that it's not putting out the power they want and move onto the next newest Mustang taillight or Camaro programmer.
They usually don't put it on the net until the day it shows. If it was a chevy they would be doing all kinda mods... head porting, so on... I think we should start poll on how much horsepower and tq it will make at the flywheel. I say 375hp 420tq What you guys think???
on the last one they started out by saying something about the people on V8Buick.com. So they know where to look for info and what's best, but it's hard to break old habits like Holleys, Edelbrocks, and whatever other parts usually get stuck on SBC motors.
If they use the cam advertised they would be stupid not to port the heads. I do hope they use the 1 7/8 headers. 1.65 rockers would make a lot of difference but I wouldn't count on anything larger than 1.55. If they did port the heads I think the power will go past 400hp. If they did not port the heads it was a waste of thime using the big cam.
