You are absolutely corret. It is not a bible. I have 17 min. of TV I get. I'm still trying to find the wrong info you are talking about. I am trying to fight the mistakes as hard as I can. You have to remember that people who don't know anything about engines are the ones editing, I only get a look at the rough cut as it is being shot. I'll give detailed instructions to the post edit team and sometimes I am just as pissed as you are when something finnaly airs. I have been watching for years too and there are a lot of mistakes and I'm trying to fix that. I do have the knowledge for this but just trying to find a way that works for everyone. There isn't alway's time to show everything like the custom valley tray that Mike Phillips made for me and things like that. It was just a stock motor with late 70's small heads. You have to remember you'r not only putting me down you are also putting TA down and Mike P. If they are happy with the numbers and think that they were good then maybe some guys have to big expectations for a little stock type rebuild. As for your emails I have no idea where they go to, but after it airs it's way to late to correct them.

Why cant you guys just accept the motor for what it is? A basically budget build with some simple bolt-ons.I doubt too many guys building 350's want to drop $2K into porting a set of 350 heads.
I'm sure this motor with a 200R4 & 3:73 gears would do quite well on the street...and put a smile on your face:3gears: As far as sponsors go,companys like Edelbrock has lot's deeper pockets to toss $$$ around than does T/A or AMP.Be glad they stepped up to the plate at all.
And my last point....i could give a rats ass if my engine builder can spell or not,as long as he knows what he's doing on the engine build!:TU:

It's not about what I want to hear, it's about selling parts for company's that specialize in engine parts. I wish it made more but it didn't. As long as the guy's who gave parts are happy then it's all good. I really hope that this build will put some more intrest into the Buick crowd. Maybe the guy's like TA Performance will get some sale's increase out of this and maybe see enough to start building things like all. heads for the 350. Either way I tried to bring you guys some light. If it wasn't good enough i'm sorry.

I haven't even seen the show (dang time zones) but if any the issue for me is that most shows of this type let the viewer assume that the parts chosen and the vendors chosen were optimum or according to plan.

Not that I think shows should have a disclaimer but yeah a disclaimer would have likely prevented some of the complaining in this thread. "We did the best we could with vendors willing to provide parts and labor for free" just isn't good tv. lol.

Perhaps another way to put it would be "your budget and location may result in a different combo that nets more or less power, if enough interest we might try other combinations. So start writing letters to your favorite vendors to get in touch with us!"

Brother I don't mind criticizm. Thats the only way we learn sometimes. It's all good some people just have to be unhappy and I think a lot of people have diffrent views of how TV world works. I have a meeting on monday fo rsome more show ideas, I will see if they will let me go back into that thing and make some real power. I have a few ideas on how to pick up some ponies without a power adder. I think some people will still pick it out though.

Well, John. Just a fyi there if a forum member that makes log manifolds, turbo kits, and a Single plane manifold. Maybe read the tubs and twins post in the sbb section of this forum. Show what kind of torque a basically stock 350 can make (even with stock cam, heads, rocker ratio, etc.). Hell, for fun use a junkyard engine and slowly crank up the boost until it blows. Bet you get above the 800hp range... and that's good tv!

Once again, thanks for the rear main seal idea.

i respect you. you are a stand up guy. i understand what your saying and were your coming from, you did the best you could with what you had to work with. that remark i made about saying what you wanted to hear was to ceas350

  14. Justa350

    Justa350 I'm BACK!

The rear main seal idea was worth the fairly low hp numbers in my book. They didn't have any significant head work, and probably didn't have a ton of dyno time to dial it in other than some timing. John, if I remember correctly the carb was a rebuilt stocker? I think the 300hp could come up a lot if they let you tinker on it more, but I also know how these things go from a business perspective.

I think this is just amazing that a Buick 350 got TV time, and they pointed out some of its advantages. Super glad you guys did it! If they ever show interest in doing more with it, say boost or something, I know a guy who can help.

Thanks man, I will see if they will let me go back into it this season. I'm thinking a 3,000$ port and polish by AL Neil a solid roller street cam and we'll see if we can't get close to 500 out of it. I need to find a good forged piston source and a good bearing. I'll see if TA will send those roller rocker safts this time too.

Just watched the repeat of the show a little while ago - thank you John Bouchard for showcasing the Buick 350:TU: :TU: :TU: . I was quite excited to see a build involving one on TV and my wife actually watched it with me. You did a great job on it and hopefully we will see more Buicks covered in the future.

Agreed, I don't know why that guy went after us and Mike's dad so hard. That just shows the lack of class in his upbringing. I know who he is, he works for accel, or is affiliated with them. He does some smalll videos on you tube. I think he may be a little jealous. Any way I really appreciate all the support on this forum. I'll see if I can get it right next time.
