This morning, just on a whim, I did a little internet detective work to find my GSX's original owner. Unfortunately, I found out that he had passed years ago. But I did find a number for his brother and called. Got a machine and left a message. I was almost about to hang up when someone picked up. His brother Pat. Says he remembered the car well and remembered the first ride he got in it. He said hid knuckles were white! He said that his nephew always talks about that car and always wondered what happened to it. Pat said he would call hid nephew and forward my number. 20 minutes later I get a call from Texas. Its Mike, the original owners son! He was blown away. And mikes son and family live 15 minutes away from me in Port Jefferson. Small world. He mentioned that as soon as his father bought the X, they were transferred to Asia, and the car sat for 3 years in his grandfathers garage. He has a ton of pictures from his father of the car that he's going to dig up. Imagine? Pictures of 508 when it was new! I texted him pics of the car and of the interior. He's going to have his other uncle call me who knows alot of the history of it and the person who actually found it sitting on the lot at the dealer. More to follow!
I sometimes think about driving over to the original owner of my car and show him how I hotrodded the piss out of it...
That's awesome.... would be great if he came out to see it. I guess I missed the story of where you found it... it was on a dealer lot, how did you stumble on it?
I bought it from a prominent board member. I touched on it in my gsx thread but I woke up and went to work not knowing I would be buying a gsx that day.
Ahhh, yes....the archeological dig has begun. Looking forward to seeing 508 in its infancy. Awesome story! I'm actually in regular contact with 4 of my car's previous 9 owners. Three of whom live in Lebanon, PA. They've been kind enough to send me a couple dozen pictures of the car from the 70's and 80's and I keep them updated with pictures as well. I've actually pondered trailering the car down there for a weekend so they can see and drive it. Maybe this spring....
