Polishing done and wax applied, lots of nicks and flaws that can’t be fixed but it’s shiny now, they’re original only once I keep telling myself, I can live with that. Besides what’s going in it is spectacular so who care right?
If you put a Stage 2 engine in it, most people will never be able to see the color and flaws when you go into warp speed. Scotty, give me warp 7, aye aye Captain. I wonder if there will be any paint left? LoL VET
I’m looking for more of a reaction like…” What in the hell is in that old Skylark making all that beautiful noise?”
yes it does. But it makes the engine sound like an old tractor engine…. Ever notice that? I personally wouldn’t run it with a 1970 stage2 head. Wasn’t designed for the stage2 head. It was designed to run in the the 1969 Stage2 engine. Where that year used the Stage1 heads with limited exhaust flow numbers. Why give up HP using that cam with the the 1970 version. Buick was already making the very unknown experimental Stage2 cams in order to work with the new release of the Stage2 heads. Totally different head design, both intake side and of course exhaust side
Experimental Stage 2 cam? Can you even find them anymore? Does TA make a cam with specs close to the Stage 2 experimental cam? Not sure I have even heard one. VET
that is correct sir. Had a chance to buy one of the 1970 experimental cams…pretty sure they made two versions. But missed the opportunity. It still would have been wall art for my Stage2 display. Technology…. But still. Have the whole Stage2 x two, combination, and all the back up material thanks to Dennis Manner.
I have the experimental Stage 2 cam, verified by Denny. Mike Jr. at TA is going to run it on the Cam Doctor to see what the specs are for it.
I would to see what the specs come out to be on the cam Doctor. Wonder what Buick was thinking back in 1970. VET
yes they are definitely out there. Actually again, a couple versions. I passed on the opportunity for two reasons. 1) It was a private sale. So who knows. 2) it would have been just wall art. Cool in that respect though. Hopefully you got that cam from either Dennis or from one of his workers working under him…. Which I met most of them that Dennis introduced me to them. He actually gives them the most credit for the program. Kinda cool he respects them like that. oh. I see you posted the engineering number off it. If you didn’t, you could most likely show that to Dennis to verify it is an actual experimental Stage2 cam. Denny keeps/kept really good notes from those days… Just trying to help Oh and 3) no cam card. How would you ever degree it in? NEVER would I just stick it in there. They are so off for various reasons besides the cam itself
Are you positive that’s an experimental Buick cam? That is not what I came up with from my records? Again, just trying to help….
ok cool. From eBay then? But that was years ago. Like 7 to 10 years ago? It would be interesting to see how Buick speced it. btw. If that’s a true Buick made Cam. ( or there pick of manufacturer) That is not a part number on the front of the cam. Rather an engineering number. Buick, and all the other divisions could cross reference that engineering number to a part number of course. Kind of interesting. But that’s the way it works…
I didn’t get it on ebay, and that’s the Buick engineering number on it. Denny held this cam in his very hands and immediately said what it is. You can stop replying to my threads. Remember we aren’t friends as you said a month or two ago.
Ok. . That’s interesting about Denny though. As you know. I was correct in my knowledge about Dennis’s comments. But not so sure you’re telling the truth. Whatever. Good buy. Be a man brother As I said, was just trying to help…again. No more info from me directly anyway.
Denny and I spoke just last week, he called wanting some information. I get all my information straight from him on anything Stage 2.
curious as to why you are not going with a custom grind? might be worth it for better/more efficient/ more hp /tq cam. charlie
I’m not going for fast, I’m building an authentic Vintage Stage 2 with all correct parts. If I wanted to go fast then I would use all modern parts, but I don’t care about that. I just thought it would be cool this way, how many Stage 2’s in the world exist built this way? Probably less than fingers on one hand.
