Don't know how many times I said "very cool" while standing there. Lol

    2 different videos...one from each side. :)

WOW this is just too good!:D

So the brand new Stage 1 short block came with Stage 1 cam?

    Silly question,
Where is the 5th head bolt on the head on the right side of the pic?

It’s there just a lousy picture.

So here are the engine pictures of it un-crated.
There are serial numbers of B I E 15727 on the driver side and a decal “S” so one could speculate that denotes Stage 1. There are no stamped numbers on the deck. The Block casting is 1241735 and a Large 3 so I would say 1973 year, which is great being a better block than 1970. The cam has a GREEN splotch of paint as does the lifter galley so I would assume that would be to match a specific cam to the block, again I would assume meaning maybe Stage 1. Of course the numbers will be in the end of the cam I can’t see. The CRANK and Block have no numbers but a Pink splotch of paint on the end, I guess again telling the assembly person what goes with what. The CRANK has white splotches on the main caps and Weights. The Paper TAG only has 851 on it nothing else with any meaning. The PISTONS have 2 numbers in Ink Stamp, a 3 on the driver side and a 7 on passenger side with no other numbers. Nothing else notable on it. 00FFF29E-EDD0-4AAA-BF30-2E3115DBE4E4.jpeg 7C7DB4E4-8456-4C71-82EF-984906C314A5.jpeg DF344AF0-3BC1-422C-8E80-7245EBA1981B.jpeg 3286BA85-4102-48B0-A311-8FA21449F022.jpeg 80A83C73-B0C1-499B-90EA-CCAD87F29E41.jpeg A434658C-CCA5-431A-B7A3-8FB2006DE48E.jpeg 7F9B6344-19FC-4D9A-A4E1-115C50B66CEE.jpeg Correction, Duane says the serial numbers indicate a 1971 block. No it’s very sticky.

And there’s At least 1 other Virgin Crate Motor, a 350 that Mike at T/A owns, I have to deliver it to him on my next trip to Phoenix.

What a cool thread. We saw the display motor at BG but didn’t get a chance to meet. looking forward to following this build and seeing the car in person one day!

I was in/out @ BG (didn't get there until 10:30AM Fri.) & super busy meeting up w/ppl for the short time I was there (didn't even look @ a car really) but happened to stop by Brent's display for a minute & he told me this story & offered to show me the heads/pistons/cam - Other than parts for sale, it was literally the only Buick thing I stopped to look @ & glad I did!

That looks very very similar to what my NOS 76 block looked like.....mine came in bag, not crate, no cam, and about 10x the amount of cos. I swear they dipped it in a barrel of the stuff
