I say kudos to Ford for IMO leading the pack for design and performance in that particular sector of the market. ( 20 somethings that cant pay 30k for a car )
The decades long war of Mustang vs Camaro ended when GM killed their side of the competition and if Ford stopped offering the Mustang then what choice is there?

The Monaro / GTO? A wasted opportunity IMO.
A ' performance sedan ' ? Not the same market.
    Corvette? Not the same market.
    Cadillac???

Caddys perform great an all but Ive always thought they were more for grandma and grandpa than junior.

Anyways, I think as we all get older our ideas about what constitutes a ' true ' this or ' real ' that solidifies until everything outside those borders becomes something them dang ole kids are up to that we dont like.

I personally dont like allot of new vehicle designs either because IMO they arent very inspired or unique. however there are allot more reliable and decently performing cars on the market than between 65-72 even though they dont fit the established mold.

    Anyways, just ranting along! :D

Agreed, if drag racing is your only concern. Watch out for the corners and braking....

You will need 700 (at least) to match the vettes 600 due to its weight and aerodynamics (1000+- lbs less, not a brick), your drivability is gonna be bad while he cruises aorund with the a/c on in total comfort....you can't argue with technology.....it all depends what a guy wants. And to make and transfer and control that power you are gonna spend some BIG money as well....

Not arguing, just important to think about both sides.

And here's proof. Check engine light in Camry came on. Well, well, well, now the call comes in - needs new plugs and fuel system work - $400 - 50k miles - under warranty but THAT'S NOT covered! Let me see - I can change the plugs, wires, etc, and replace the whole FREAKIN' fuel system (including a brand new carburetor) in the '72 Buick for that kind of bread. Stupid ricer! Platinum plugs are supposed to last? I changed to plugs in my old S-10 Blazer at 120k! I bought a Toyota for the daily driver because it's not supposed to need this kind of work!!!!!!!!!!!!
