    Thanks for the vids.
You mentioned a stall would be nice.

Yours has a cam my dont and I have a stock converter. I know that a stall should only benefit a cammed setup... so im wondering if I should even consider a stall converter (jegs got a decent budget unit).

    I wouldn’t bother, run it.

According to the TA catalog, a stock converter is OK with the 212 cam, but it’s just that-OK and not optimum for the track. I think an 11 inch 2500 stall converter would knock a few tenths off, but I didn’t want the truck to loose the ability to tow and haul. That and it was great for the budget, so I stayed with the stock converter, and it does great on the street. Even a stock engine can benefit from a little more stall, but yeah like Sean Buick 76 said, it probably isn’t worth it unless you are planning on a hotter cam in the future. Really love your project truck, btw! Looking forward to seeing it on the road.

i will most likely run it as it is. if i do anything to it then a SNIPER EFI setup.
If i would want a cammed setup i could put in a 5.3 LS that i have sitting here as well... rebuild, cammed, carbed, nice lil motor for sure and it is tempting to put this one in instead of the 455; but a BBB is a BBB.
the lil extra $ i would have to put in the LS setup i can use for the EFI setup on the BBB

You’d miss out on the 455 torque with an LS

Not to mention everyone and their brother has done a 60's-70's C-10 LS swap. Give it another 40 years and the people who are left in the hobby will think they came from factory with them lol:rolleyes::D:p

Very clean work. That's what I like too see. You have plenary of room for that set up under the hood.
Going to be fun watching this build.
    Great job.
Unless I missed it. Did you check
Compression and know about what they oil pressure was?
Hate to see your go back in.

You are right. Only reason for LS would beat this point if I want to make this a daily like driver.
And even that can be solved by a Sniper Efi on the Bbb

I went through the motor and found it good for my standards lol. I was thinking about putting a cam and springs in but it is a low milage 72' that was running well. I get oil up to the heads and good pressure on the gauge.
I have not done a compression check yet but I will. I am very confident it's a good motor.
    ;)

just fire it up and burn out, then you will know if it has compression lol

the engine and trans is in!!

for anybody who has the idea of putting a BUICK 455 in a 67-72 C10 i made a bunch of pics to help out with the Guesswork.
( i assume this applies for any BOP 455s)

1st i chose the73-87 Square Body Frame mounts/pads i am sure you can fab your own

    2. then i used the Buicks Engine& motor mounts i had ( mine where out of a Centurion but i guess the Skylark ones work as well.

3 you have to utilize the "BBody" mounting position for the the engine mounts on the Block 2nd and far back hole!

4 utilize as many pre drilled holes on the frame to fit your Frame brackets from frame to Crossmember! ( i had to drill 1 hole on the Frame and 1 on the crossmember to position them where i wanted them)

5 sit the motor+ trans in and LEVEL the engine; position it correct, so that you have a good angle on the trans tail. as well as centered to the rear end
( i used a trans Crossmember from TINWORKS with exhaust routing holes to tuck the exhaust.
ONCE it sits where you want it mark the holes on the frame pads you need to drill.

    20211029_214333.jpg

6 After confirming the position many times and test fitting the cab ( with a lift) for clearance i drilled the holes on the Frame pads/crossmember/frame.
then i installed the Frame brackets 1st with the Motor mounts attached to it.

7 YOU HAVE TO NOTCH the frame for the OIL FILTER (get your grinder) Then place the engine /Trans and be HAPPY :)

About the oil filter, aren't the oil pump covers/filter adapters all the same as far as function? The V6 ones are angled differently and might avoid the frame notching issue.

i am not sure but even if it is way more hassle to change the oil pump cover than notching the frame, it is also a location where the OEM frame is kinda Flared already so it is not a big deal i think.
The main issue is the Oil filter itself and its dimensions and you want it servicable i think.

I am still waiting on the front brake parts!
    Everything seems to be delayed.
So I decided to fab the 2.5 in exhaust
With some glass packs. That should give the stock 455 a bit a growl.

I also assembled a LS 5.3 I had sitting here to make room on the shelves lol.

    Ported heads, cam, etc.

    Started with the bed sides..
Long to short conversion, since I am cheap and I dont care for a straight body, i cut the oem bed Sides.
It's some work.. especially with a bend and not straight oem to work with lol.

    Not pretty but efficient;)
