    Hey guys
i finally got me a C10 a 69 to be exact, Yes it is a LWB
i wanted to do a truck project for the longest and i really like my Buicks so why not a
72 455/th400 running stock combo out of a Big body into a C10?!

the Truck is in OK shape nothing special and was fairly cheap compared to what people ask nowadays for this trucks + it has a clean title, lol . Not usual unless you want to spend 7K+ for a c10.

Yes its a LWB and yes i rather like SWB but again the pricepoint is crazy.

So how about i just cut it up and make it a SWB, i have assist with it before and i know its nothing major to cut the bed up and weld it back shorter. Further you can get Frame shortening Kits that eliminate the guess work.

the 455 is a running motor. YES i will go through it but i am not planning on performance upgrades besides re-curve etc. i will look at all the gaskets and rear main seal as well as valve springs. And i will send out the Qjet to get it refurbished and a bit performance adjusted.
For what i am doing i think headers would be overkill and so i keep the manifolds and go with 2.5-3" dual exhaust.

I also got the Big Body Frame mounts since these seem to be close to bolt on to the C10 sbc brackets i heard?!?

I think it will be a nice little project. I will lower the truck and add some suspension upgrades so it handles decent. i am not planing on painting it ( at least not at the moment) so i will preserve the good old TX heat patina.

it is a 6 lug drums all arround so i definitly do front Discs and rebuild the rear drums, + add a posi in the stock 12 bolt ( probably 3:55s or 3:73) so she had a bit more gears to go.

I would love to go oldschool on 15x10 minimum on the rear 15x12 would be great but hard to find 6lug steelies with 12 in width.

Please guy any input will be appreciated, this is a fun project, and a HOT ROD so lets do this.

Nice... looks like the truck has air too!

Cool truck and fun looking project. I had a 71 Suburban with a 455 and it was a fun sleeper. Had a 71 SWB too. Sure wish I'd have kept it.

Not in a 67-72. Just the 73-87 square body style

I think it could be pretty similar. What mounts etc did you use?

Is your C10 a trailing arm suspension or leaf spring?

I prefer the trailing arm over leaf springs when not using the truck for hauling

So It took me 2 days and alot of beer to go through the 455. I knew it is a running motor but it always makes sense to see what I'm working with.
Somebody did the waterpump, rockers and the oil pan already it has a neoprene rear main seal now it makes sense why it is not leaking lol.
    Nice suprise.
Unforthunaly I snapped 4 exhaust manifold bolts on the driver side. I soaked it 2 days in penetration oil. The pass side came of clean but the driver side was bad.
So I am waiting on a extraction tool. To get them out.
I sandblasted the manifolds and some of the brackets + painted them.
I scored a poston alu intake for cheap and will swap that on mainly to safe weight. I know with a 1" + spacer they ad a lil power so I will do that.
I spied into the pistons with a camera. And they all look good. No bad suprises.

I will want to send out the qjet to get it rebuild.

Can anybody comment on that carb? 20210425_152009.jpg 20210425_152019.jpg 16193828074321757736022162412029.jpg

Other than that I cleaned and painted the engine .
