What state is the car in now? I’d want a LEO in Texas and where ever it is now to run the VIN to be sure it isn’t stolen. If it isn’t, some states ( Georgia for sure) will grant registration after a LEO confirms the above and inspects it to verify the car and VIN belong together. Easy peasy here.

Wow, the correct factory big block tach and power antenna. Bill, if you don't buy that car I might have to do it.

Bill: I've got my fingers crossed for you selling the Dorf. I was happy to forward you the lead. Yes, you really need a 4-speed!!

That dorf shifter is like a tinker toy; I really miss having to stand on a clutch pedal looking over at the opponent with that leg trembling, then a power shift right outa the box and gone. I miss driving the Rock Truck too, with that NTC 350 Cummins and a RoadRanger. That usually managed to suck pretty bad after 10 hours in a non AC'd cab tho. ws

The car is getting more exciting as it comes along; good luck with it Bill, hope you get it!
That thing does need to preserved and restored; - it's a really desirable model. Looks pretty solid, and that's half the battle.
So just what is a preacher doing with a Shovel like that?

Notice the old Craig FM/8 Track Power Play? Now that's a cool piece along with the rest of the car.

Always liked the 69 Chevelle's.. This one looks like a decent project. Plus, every part is reproduced (sometimes 20 fold!!) and parts are easier to find then leaves in the fall!!! Good luck!

I like'm too, and never had one. Had a few 70's a 68 327 base post (300 deluxe?) with a factory 4 speed and a 68 SS 396, but always wanted a 69 to round out the herd! ws

I had one in 1975, SS 396 convertible auto loved it also. I blew the engine going to work 6am in a snow storm, I was 19. Went down the street to a junky a couple of days later and found another 396, that was the first engine I ever changed. The only picture I have, L-60's and traction bars. ss386rt.jpg

My first foray into old cars was a Monaco Orange 1969 Chevelle. My former FIL and I tore the whole thing apart and redid it, and so I know a fair amount about them. Before I bought my 70 Stage 1, I considered getting back into one, but the price to get an original one that isnt a complete redo is out of this world. I wanted original, and did not want a multi year project.

Its unfortunate that without documentation its harder to prove originality with '69 and newer. VIN in block and trans, etc, and even those are faked some. There is a lot of money to be made in Chevelles. But I agree, the car looks like its pretty legit to me from a quick glance. The factory tach is fairly uncommon as an option, thought people do go back and add them. Like others have pointed out, AC with a 4 speed is too.

There is a wealth of information out there on Chevelles, if you were unaware. Its a little different than Buicks in my opinion. Maybe you know, but https://www.chevelles.com/ is a great group of people not unlike v8buick, only for Chevelles. I am a lifetime member there, though I haven't been in years, being I sold the car in 2013.

So this thing may happen. Thatll mean leaving here with an empty trailer from Two Rivers/Manitowoc to Dwight/Bloomington, IL. to Dallas/FTW. If anyone needs anything dropped within reason holler out. Just like to pick up a few bucks for gas money. Had a local appraiser tell me that the bonded title is no biggy, and a trip to the DMV will confirm this. One of the only apprehensions. Let me know ASAP.... ws

Still puttsing with the logistics on this. Pat now has me flying down to inspect and make it happen and have a transporter haul it home. Anyone remember "Bill" that has a hauling business? I'd like to keep the job in the "family" if possible. Please advise... ws

Yeah...fly down and look at it. I so wish I had flown out to look at my car before I bought it. And...maybe if you are there with the $ in hand you can talk him down. I remember seeing that Bill hauling ad. Go with the force Bill, and...May the odds be ever in your favor!

Thanks Frank... Its getting more complicated by the minute, and one transporter thinks its a scam. Didnt need to hear that altho that thought is ALWAYS in my head today. Several issues have come up and I need to speaker with the OWNER, not his agent, which is the case right now. Fly down, inspect , buy it, have it moved to secure storage until it can be transported, or rent the trailer and bite the bullet and make the trip. Im still of the opine that if its meant to be, so be it, as well as if its too good to be true, well you know the rest of that one.

Right now Im gonna try and talk to the owner. We'll see how that plays out. What the hell is a little road trip anyways? LOL! ws

I agree JC... I just manned up and called the guy. Our cruddy parlay back and forth was due to him (he's 71) being overwhelmed with a million calls and all No-Shows. Just thought I was one of them too. We had a nice chat and he seems pretty legit. He is gonna call me Wed. P.M. and confirm its not sold. Im probably taking off Thurs A.M. with the trailer and stopping in Springfield Mo. to pick up my S-I-L ( a dorf mechanic!) and hopefully go fetch the car. The gent promised once I leave, he'll keep it until I take it or turn it down.

His story is that he and the reverend bought it from an old timer with only one arm. The guy had a ton of stuff. He's about 90 ish. These two entrepreneurs are really only netting "a few bucks on the deal" thinking maybe $500. The title is legit. It is bonded in Texas as the owner couldnt find the original paper. The bond was about $150.00 and was DMV inspected before issued. They had it listed at $15K and no-one wanted to get into for that much. At 8K I think Ill be alright... even for parts. It is a 325/396 with AC. He also spun the motor over several times via wrench up front.

The guy was walking around describing it as I asked questions. The vinyl tops worn away for many years and is nothing but steel underneath it. Minor rust from dirt and leaves inside the plugged door drains. Thats typical. Hood hinges are rusted and really stiff so as not to bend the hood up (thanks!!) the one corner appears sprung... I just wish this were a 500 mile trip instead of 2000.

BTW... Luke gets the ice cream sammich shifter knob but HAS TO put it on the Muskrat at least for shows LOL... Stay tuned on this one kids!:eek::eek::eek: ws
