Ummm, I actually LIKE "Cake by the Ocean" by DNCE. And I agree with almost all of the worst hated mentioned by everybody else... Except for Last Kiss by J Frank Wilson & the Cavaliers... One of my all-time favorites. Forget Pearl Jam's murdered version,

Anything from U2 sucks elephant balls. My old foreman was a bono wannabe and loved U2 more than his own kids, he'd play their crap everyday! Needless to say I found a new crew to work on before I went to jail for first degree murder :D

I too cannot stand Maroon 5, but their first hit "This Love" (I think it's their first?) gives me Billy Joel vibes.

Hotel California, never understood the lyrics "On a dark desert highway, cool whip in my hair, warm smell of burritos, rising up thru the air"
Dont know who did "Seasons in the sun" I remember hearing that on my little AM transistor radio, DAMN that song is depressing.

    Heck yeah!
106.5 they play just 8 or so songs from the 80's, same crap that was overplayed IN the 80's
104.1 you can set yer watch to their morning show by the same songs they play EVERY morning
    All the stations suck.

    Bobby Goldsboro - "Honey"
Righteous Brothers - "Rock and Roll Heaven"
Genesis - "I Can't Dance" and pretty much anything by Phil Collins (personal taste - I can't stand his voice)
"Last Kiss" is AWFUL...I'm glad to see that's on several others' radars - Pearl Jam just adds that little bit of extra suck to it
Any Madonna song - and she was actually born in the same hospital as I was. She is far more famous though.
Just about everything else on this list - spot on, friends!

A lot of those songs everyone has mentioned have been played the crap out of over the years just blows that they think we want to hear all the same songs all the time. All the new stuff to me blows ars.

At least some of the country is good has a rock an roll more sound now At least they know how to play guitars and such so the sound is really good.

On the CMA the other nite the Charlie Daniels Band did the Devil Went Down to Georgia and they smoked it especially the fiddle player. you have to have a real stereo system to appreciate some of this music. Back in the 70's I did not like country music at all but like some the newer country bands but not all.

if you listen to music on your crappy radios or ones you think are stereos they do not give most music justice.

you have to have a kick butt home stereo system like for instance a 200w per channel Adcom amp with some Klipsch speakers and a 40 year old Marantz receiver as a preamp and also a good subwoofer like a 250w Klipsch.

Now were melting the paint Put on Dark side of the Moon and see what I mean. I never got tired of hearing that one but has to be played front to back just like the Wall album.

Newer songs- "Truth Hurts" by Lizzo, "Africa" by Weezer

Older songs- "Africa" by Toto, "Hey Jude" by the Beatles

Any song people are line dancing to, is that still a thing?

Any rock song that was remade by a country singer

Until a few years ago "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" by Meatloaf. Worked at a Bar/Dance Club in the late 80s/early 90s and every friggin night the DJ would play this ungodly long song so he could go hit on the women, get a drink, etc.... I can stomach it now but when somebody starts doing the actions when the song plays, ugh.

Anything by the Beatles with their repetitive boring lyrics. How many times do you have to hear “ hey Jude “ before going nuts !

Have heard "Imagine" was about yearning for communism. (Billboard #1, early 1971) Sorry it doesn't work. Yoko Ono apparently took him back after his flings and escapades with May Pang. Believe he (Lennon) was trying to turn his life around when he was assassinated by Mark David Chapman, Dec. 8th 1980. Still remember the moment, having been in tenth grade homeroom when the news came.

I'm a bit older then most here, but I nominate anything by Bobby Vinton. While I'm at it, PURPLE RAIN by Prince, or perhaps The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, or whatever he wanted folks to call him after that.

yeah they sounded like a different band and where considered alternative back then as well. they where considered similar to the killers at that time. however people started getting boners over adam and they totally changed there style. kinda like sugar ray did after fly became a hit. then we had whole albums of fly 2.

    Two that come to mind:
    1. Europe - The Final Countdown is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
    2. Might get hate for this one, but so is the Beatles - Come Together. Can't stand it

Hotel California (#1, 1977) has been over played for years.
Seasons in the Sun was by Terry Jacks, believe it was a one hit wonder from possibly 1974.
