Mine (worst to gulp, best). One of my car buddies hates a Cher song so bad, it got me thinking about this...

    Beyonce - Single Ladies

The Beatles - I Am the Walrus

Kenny Chesney - She thinks My Tractor's Sexy

Gloria Estefan - Rythem Is Gonna to Get You

Captain & Tennille - Muskrat Love

If you expanded the time frame by 7 years, I will nominate:

    Surfin Bird’- The Trashmen (1963)

Nothing on your list can touch it.

Appearing on American Bandstand no less:

I’ll probably get hate for this, but John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ is the most cringeworthy tune ever. It’s a song that people celebrate but it’s just awful. A multi-millionaire with a Manhattan apartment with a room just for his furs, singing ‘Imagine no possessions...’. A man preaching love and harmony while he treated his family like crap. Even if he’d been a better person, the song’s still horrible. Your opinion may vary.

I am happy to report an artists work is not judged by their personal life. ie OJ simpson was an awesome running Back, Picasso was a fantastic painter, Bill Cosby was still funny.

"We Built This City" - Jefferson Starship or Starship or whatever they were calling themselves at the time. I still can't believe Grace Slick recorded that horrible song...

    From Rolling Stone Magazine:

"This could be the biggest blow-out victory in the history of the Rolling Stone Readers Poll. You really, really, really hate "We Built This City" by Starship. It crushed the competition. This isn't the first time this happened to this song. In 2004 Blender named this song the Most Awesomely Bad Song of All Time. Certainly, there's a lot to hate about the song."

Imagine, to me, is a road map to be used when one wants to drive away from what many of us consider our American way of life.

Freebird & Stairway certainly were overplayed, so much so, I don't care to listen to either one myself.

I would venture to say very few on this site listen to hip-hop, let alone be able to put together a worst 5 list.

You've got to do acid to listen to the Beatles, " I am the Walrus" Song

Too bad some of those songs were overplayed in their day it made me sick of the radio also. The song Freebird I heard for the first time was used on a jewelry commercial in early 70's before I knew who did it.

But, if you have XM Sirus radio the station to listen to is Deep Tracks by Earl Bailey. He plays all the music from the artists that were never played on the radio. Really good stuff there and I went to a lot of concerts and listened to a lot of music back in the 70's. So this is a good treat if you have XM Sirus.

Everyone is forgetting the blissful sounds of The Carpenters, Barry Manilow and several others. I won’t mention particular songs because I don’t want the earwigs in my head all day!
