My guess is it all depends on your particular immune response to the virus. Our immune systems are capable of dealing with any pathogen if it is activated in time. That is the whole point of vaccines, to prime your defense to react quickly. So now we are talking about individual genetics possibly. We are all very impatient about this, understandably so, Covid fatigue is like cabin fever, we all want it to be over yesterday, but it takes time, yes it sucks, but you have to trust someone or something. I trust medical science, my choice, but everyone is entitled to make their own decision.

I don't know where you got the above, but it sounds to me like typical social media conspiracy theory. I've been hearing this out of people's mouths for a long time in person. I don't get my information from social media, and IMO, it is totally unreliable.

My guess, and I'm no expert is that exposure is cumulative, and if you are around Covid + people, for a long enough time, your chances go up exponentially. The obvious examples are our front line workers (heroes) who take the ultimate risks to care for us. Despite them taking all precautions, even full hospital suits and separate air supplies, they still become infected. All it takes is one mistake at the wrong time.

I expect that with all the precautions being taken for Covid, the the incidence of the flu, a much less contagious disease, would be way down, for obvious reasons.

You said it, anecdotal, which sounds to me like social media and other person to person conversations. This is what undermines our confidence, and tries our patience. We all want to get back to normal life. Even if everything goes right, and it won't, it will be some time. We have a lot of hurdles and misinformation is a big problem.

If you believe your mask theory why are their covid cases increasing.

Well, the LA Times has an article about how their hospitals are swamped, the morgues are full and health care workers are draggin butt.

I'm sure it is made up too.

I masked/distanced faithfully. Then I met a “Karen” at a local eatery. Maskless and spouting every virus conspiracy theory known, I got in her crossfire when getting up to get my meal. Three days later I was laid out. Probably touched my mask taking it off when I got home and that’s all it needed. With the strikes against me I already knew about, I wasn’t expecting the “lite” version some people have had, and I was right. If you’ve never had a near death experience, you might tend to dismiss the descriptions of others experiences. That’s somewhat of a line that distinguishes those who will and those who won’t get the vaccine; you either have or know someone who has had a bad experience, or you haven’t. That’s what motivates your perspective. Only reading about someone’s experience doesn’t strike a nerve as hard. When I was 14, I jumped out of a 2nd story window as my house was engulfed in flames with most of my family still in it. That’s the truth. My father was in ICU for over a month with 3rd degree burns. My mother, 2 brothers and 3 sisters perished. That’s why I’m OCD when it comes to fire prevention. I don’t expect people who have never experienced the things I have to adopt my perspective. Same goes for this vaccine.

    Joe out...

Love and respect to all (most) of my brothers in here and I respect your views weather ya get it or dont. Wanna wear a mask cool with me. I wont be doing either. I dont remember having a choice about the Polio shot and whatever else was in the cocktail that got shot into my arm in 1st grade. We were herded into a room and through a shoot like cattle.
