They sure have. However it was a brand new virus, new information is being learned about it, just why in the hell would you expect the response to be stagnant?

will get mine as soon as it’s my turn, I am getting it for two reasons, for my life and for the life I may save from not passing the virus along if I would get sick. Any other thought is being an irresponsible American. My thoughts are I don’t give a damn if the ones that don’t get the shot drop dead but I do give a damn about the ones they may pull down with them.

I totally respect everyone's decision on whether to get the vaccine, or not, your choice. Let's put Darwin in the driver's seat.:)

That reason is All of those people wear a mask in Japan, here in the US we do what we want. Maybe they are smarter than we are.

Fortunately, at the rate vaccinations are currently being accompished, many of us will have no choice but to wait quite a while. People who are unsure may be able to assess 6 months to 12 months of reactions before ever being offered a shot.

I suspect cruise lines wil make proof of vaccination mandatory.

They are certainly more united than we are. But then again, Japan is not a melting pot like we are.

    Yep, It is time Jim.

The title of the thread was pretty simple & self-explanatory, yet you have people posting graphs/charts directly from websites created as propaganda tools for "Big Pharma" to add billions to their coffers & making statements that are categorically false....It is time to shut it down (which is probably what they wanted all along because those folks don't have the ability to just scroll on by when they see something that offends them)

God Bless & Happy New Year

My point exactly, it isn't stagnant why would I want to get the vaccine made for a disease, virus or whatever, that they don't have all the answers to. Five years from now they might be announcing to whoever had the covid vaccine. You may be entitled to compensation for bla bla bla! lol

Everyone has to make their own risk assessment. There will always be some number of people who have an allergic reaction to a vaccine, or they will get a stronger response to the vaccine than others. When you get sick from anything, it isn't the pathogen that actually makes you feel sick, it is your body's response to the pathogen. The questions everyone must ask themselves is, one, do you trust medical science, and science itself, and two, what are you more afraid of? The vaccine, or the Covid-19 virus. For most serious illnesses over history, the risks posed by a vaccine are dwarfed by the risks of the disease itself. IMO, that is clearly the case here. Like I have said before, anyone that doesn't want the vaccine doesn't have to take it, just don't try to prevent me from getting it.

The total deaths in U.S. 2019 were 2,854,838 (no COVID) and the projected deaths in 2020 are 2,835,533 (with COVID) at the time of this estimation with two weeks left in 2020!
Soooooooo? where are the close to three hundred thousand deaths from COVID in 2020?

Forgot to post! these numbers are from CDC.

The odds are high that most who now say that they will not take a Covid 19 vaccine, took both the TB and Polio vaccines as minors with parental consent. If they had not done so, there is a significant risk that they would be deceased or cripple today. The reason for their different point of view relative to their parents is the proliferation of conspiracy theories today, primarily by the internet and talk radio, that have no foundation in truth or science.

You know when my son (RIP) was going through cancer treatments I sat with one of the Doctors talking about medicine and they told me that medicines are synthetic in nature and the human body isn’t designed to work with them. They went onto tell me they wouldn’t put any of it in there own body if they could get away with it.

So I’m like, so you do it just to follow hospital protocols?... they said yes. Then they went onto say, there are more people that believe in medicine than not, so that’s why they do what they do, to help those that believe in it. Much respect for them.

The conversation went on about side effects and how everyone reacts different to each medicine, so it’s not one size fits all fix.

Then they asked me if I got the flu shot I said no, they looked at me and said I should to protect the others I come in contact with, especially since I was coming and going for a year at that point. But I never did.

That being said I respect everyone’s own decision on how they feel about the vaccine.

Reading all the chatter on fatality rates. Here are the raw numbers in USA per John's Hopkins and CDC
    2020 Covid Cases 19.7 M -- Johns Hopkins https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality
    2020 Covid Deaths: 342 K

    2019 Infuenzia Season Cases 35.5M -- CDC https://bit.ly/2WYL35b
    2019 Infuenzia Deaths 34K

Quick math: 2X more flu cases BUT only 10% of the deaths vs Covid. So that makes Covid 20 times more deadly than the flu. If you then consider the speed of transmission covid, I don't know how you compare the two. Also, keep in mind that Flu cases are fairly constant each year...covid cases growing exponentially and there is no seasonality.

    I'm inline.

HA! On a more serious note, and all kidding aside, my workplace has been hit hard with Covid. One lady about my age but in better shape came back to work - she got it off a visiting college girl at Thanksgiving. Her color was still awful and her eyes were even more telling. She had obviously been through a tough ordeal. She said, and without hesitation, she would get the vaccine after describing what it had done to her. So stats aside, I think I am going into the camp of getting the vaccine, but it will be a while before it gets to me.

I think I would worry more if I had reproduction to consider.
