The total death toll in the USA will easily exceed 3.1 million people. The year is almost over, and there is a lag between deaths, death certificate issuance, and actual recording statistics.

The consequences of contracting Covid 19 are not binary--meaning a full recovery or death. There are a host of serious chronic secondary conditions that can develop. Also, the odds of a bad result increase with age.

My numbers are from the CDC, does anyone have official numbers to back the claim of the adversarial numbers posted?

Reminds me in a way smokers vs non-smokers. Why am I as a non-smoker forced to live with second hand smoke and the absolute known effects of it because the selfish, addicted smokers? It was this way for decades, before some rules were finally made, at least around here. Why was I forced to avoid the smoke? It was almost humorous to go to a restaurant or to fly on a plane and you were asked “smoking or non-smoking?” Then when medical centers FINALLY made their facilities smoke-free (think about that one), we non-smokers were forced to walk through a haze of Los Angeles smog to get in the building, before smoking on the entire grounds was banned. If smoking so known to be so bad that the product packaging has dire warnings forced on by the SG, why isn’t smoking just banned period?

So for me, the jury is still out on getting a CV vaccination. I’m so far down the list that I’ll have a lot of time to make a decision. I have no problem wearing a mask, sanitizing, and social distancing. Is Covid real? Absolutely! Are getting the real facts possible? Not likely - it’s always the facts according to whom. Is Covid being exploited? Absolutely.

I think you would have to take a total deaths of US for at least 5 years then add up and divide by 5 to get the average total deaths then see if the covid deaths make that number go up.

I have heard this before you probably really need a 10 year average.

Either way you look at it the vaccine is going to help us get back to normal whether anybody wants to take it or not and I think that will be a big plus.

Plus it will keep us from beating the hell out of each other here LOL.

I don't know if someone else has said this already but I'll never buy the first model year of a new car so I'm not in a hurry to get a rushed vaccine. I'm also young and healthy so I'll take my chances.

For context I live in Los Angeles, some of my best friends are paramedics and RN's.

You still have to take into account that there has been a vaccine for the flu and until recently not for the covid virus, that makes the death rate comparison unfair. If the covid vaccine is as effective as claimed, had it been available the covid deaths would be 90% lower. That would put it far below the flu deaths. I'm not trying to tell those who are getting the vaccine that they are crazy, stupid or anything else. To each his own, I have my reasons they have theirs!

I would be willing to bet that that the overwhelming majority of flu deaths are people that don't get the vaccine. The flu vaccine reduces the severity of the illness should you contract the disease despite the vaccine. That is something that happens every year, and something I have experienced myself twice in the last 20 years or so. The symptoms were way less severe and I got over it much faster. That is the promise of this vaccine, that if you do get Covid, you won't become deathly ill requiring hospitalization. The vaccine trials were 100% for that outcome.

I'll preface by saying no question in my mid Covid is a bad hombre, I wear a mask, take all precautions and I'll be getting the shot when available. Despite the 99+% survival rate, this is a virus nobody should want to get and take their chances with. The problem I have is that after a year, there are still more questions than answers and some things just don't make sense:

Why can a 75+ year old person contract the virus, even with comorbidities, and be asymptomatic or have a very mild case while someone 30 years old in good health contracts the virus and is dead in two days? Why such different reactions? Is there a chemical component within the human body that interacts with the virus differently from person to person that has not been identified or revealed?

Why does the CDC count deaths due to Covid even if the death is not caused by Covid? There was a recent example of someone who was shot to death but was counted as a Covid death because they tested positive for Covid. There are many, many other cases of people dying of something other than Covid but being counted as a Covid death because they tested positive for Covid. Why?

In NY and other states, why were nursing home patients who contracted Covid in the nursing home, were later transported to hospitals and died in the hospital from Covid , not counted as nursing home deaths because of Covid?

Why are there still so many false negative and positive test results?

Why are some "experts" and health professionals gaining monetarily based on what they say, or don't say, about Covid or potential/in use treatments for Covid?

Why did the results of a recent survey of Covid positive patients indicate 85+% of them wore a mask faithfully but they still contracted Covid? You would also assume if they were diligent in wearing a mask, most of them also took washing and distancing precautions, yes?

Why are there virtually no flu cases being reported? I know lots of people who have been sick as a dog with all the flu symptoms and have tested negative for Covid. They don't have the flu?

I could go on with dozens of other questions and anecdotal oddities but why can't we get some straight answers? What's missing, at least in my mind, is confidence we are getting the whole and truthful story.
