Believe it or not, I used my dads 71 GS that ran 12.70's at 107 back in 1986 at the Dearborn, MI police station. The officer didn't seem to happy but I passed.

A 1970 GS455 coupe bamboo creme/brown top/brown interrior. I bought it off my brother when I was 14/15 who got it from my dad, the original owner. The lady cop came out and walked around it, saw the bald back tires...started shaking her head back and forth, mumbling no, no, no....then she said start it up.....well it awoke to a large rumble and she starting yelling..."no way you are taking your test in this thing, come back with a safer car, and walked inside. I came back with my mom's chevy........ I wish I still had that car...it was so much fun....

To John (Dynaflow) Your test was pretty much the same as mine. I wasn't in the car for five minutes. My dad (age 43 when I was born) got his license in 1917. His test: Place right hand on the bible and swear that he had driven 100 miles under the supervision of someone who had a license.

a borrowed 1970 lemans wagon with arm strong steering & standard brakes.first time i drove it was the 6 blocks to the examiners office.learned a trick from my buds before i went.if you backed into the parking spot before you went in (took 2 attempts),the examiner usually wouldn't make you do it with him in the car.
he got me for forgetting to cut wheels after parraell parking on a slight incline,& taking my corners too wide.he could tell i hadn't got use to the arm strong steering.
    passed me anyway.

I used a 70 Chev Impala for mine. It was a loaner from the Olds dealer where my dad's 70 Delta 88 was being serviced. It was the only day that I drove that car. Passed the first time out, but almost totalled it on the way home. It had the quick ratio steering, which I wasn't used to.

For my CDL test in 1992, it was a well used 77 Ford 8000 single axle tractor with a 27 foot pup trailer. That one didn't go well the first time, but passed the second time.

For my motorcycle license in 1979, it was a 77 Honda 550 4 cylinder. Passed that the first time.

    All are long gone.
