Apologize if this has been done before, but just for fun, what car did you take your first drivers test. For me it was 50 years ago this week, so guess that is what prompted the question. Think it would be really neat if anybody still has that car (and is older than say 21). Mine was a 56 Special "Riveria" which for a Buick in those days was a hardtop, no post. Light Blue. Have watched for one all these years and know I cannot spend the money these days but would be really tempted to buy one.
I don't remember which car I took the test in (it was the instructor's) but my dad had me practice driving in a 1984 Mercury Zephyr. That car was totalled in an accident years later.
Hey- I still have it!!! I took my first drivers license test back in 84' in my 73' GS STAGE 1. I also took my second test in it the next day. I failed the first test because I pulled back into the facillity thru the wrong entrance(sign was bent and unviewable) that was really a low day for a 16 year old. But passed with flying colors the next day.
A 1959 Edsel, I never drove it before I slid under the wheel to take the test, and I never drove it again. Belonged to a Great Aunt. And yes, I passed the test first try.
I remember it well, it was 1976 and I used my mothers 71 Buick Skylark to take the test. It was code 75 red with black vinyl top. Loved that car!!!
I took my drivers license field test in my first car, 1970 BUICK GS 350. I wish I still had it :spank:
67 biscayne 6 with a 3 on the tree, the dogled broke off the rear as I was pulling into a parking lot many years later, we chained it to the axle to get it out of the stop and shop. The reason that that, is particularly current is that I picked up a 69 GS for 300 bucks, two days later, out of a want ad in a local paper as I was 100 miles from home. And so began my love of Buick big blocks.
1989 Volvo 740GL Sedan, i loved that car. had a small lil 2.4L inline 4 5-Speed. i bought the car off of my folks for 1G's when i was 15 after savin up cash for a year, the engine bay on those cars is HUGE so me and a buddy ripped out the 4-banger and stuffed a 5.0L out of a 1991 Mustang. that car was soooo fun after that. especialy cuz it's a body on frame car with a 4 link live axel in the back, perfect sleeper. wish i had pix still
It was June 1967 and it was a white 64 Skylark wagon (aka Sportwagon). Failed the first time, but got is right the 2nd time. Sure wish I still had that car. Artic white with a red interior..........gorgeous! Mark
