I know, I just read too fast and misinterpreted your post, sorry.

I thought the car was originally "only" a stripper GS, NOT a GSX....? Has it been upgraded :Brow: yet once again??

    Hi guys-
I am the one that has the stg2 car from daves ad. Is the same car in all your posts here. From the picture with Jim Bell, Pop & Pete Reynolds to the 94 article on the car. I know all the correct history on it and the stg2 program, from talking with Dave Johnson, Jim Bell (whose is going to help with the project with pictures) and everyone else that "Touched" this car. All so very intresting when talking with Jim Bell. This car has one of three buick made STEEL stg2 scoops, I'm pretty sure one of one air cleaner assemblies and other rare pieces. The car lived life as just a race car and test car for KenneBell/Pop Kennedy. When I talked with Jim he said they were the first ones able to make the stg2 heads work, in that they did testing for that program for Buick.
The car does have only 1,676 miles on it but BOY did it have it's share of war wounds from racing. All fixed now though.
I know the correct history of the Buick stg2 car/s but am at work now and getting busy! Will try and write later.
I do want to say thanks to everybody on this site....Everyone is/was a big help and so nice and trusting. I'v had Buicks my hole life and just to many to list.
Oh, from this project I have an extra set of iron stg2 heads, but in need of a LOT of work for sale.
    Gotta go! Guy

Would you sell those stage 2 heads to my friend Wayne Roberts who holds all the 70 GSX records. He has looked so long for a set.

    Thanks

    stg2 heads

    Jim-
I would be more interested in trading for a nos(ya right) or near perfect "70 455 fan shroud & some cash. even contemplating buying a nos grille and using it for trading.
but i would consider selling to him. someone help me out has to what these or worth??? These are the ones that came with the car but like i said they need tons of work....talked to mike at ta about them....he knows these exact heads. I bought a a near perfect set, almost virgin without a thing wrong with them. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong but almost any iron stg2 head out there needed or needs work as in welding/seats. I'm holding nothing back at restoring this car that is why i found & bought this set that i was told was probably the best set in the world. has no welding nor do they need it, and no port work done...looks like new. Don't even ask what i paid!
The origanal shroud was cut up throughout it's race days so i'm really in need of one.
    thanks, Guy

    Very nice car Guy...

It is good to see such a historic Buick automobile getting the restoration it so deserves!:TU:

At Bowling Green years ago, Dennis Manner put forward the notion that Reynold's Buick was actually the factory test bed and as such received special equipment from Flint at no charge.

Regarding the old black and white that used to be in all the old K-B catalogs and shown earlier in this thread, who is pictured? I think Pops is standing near the driver's door. Is Jim Bell the man kneeling? Is that a Buick executive standing near the front?

Does anyone on the board have a car that was delivered to Reynold's Buick besides Guy's?:Do No:

    stg2 car

Brian- have part of the artical that picture was taken for (old hot rod mag) and Jim states thats him kneeling, Pop is the gray hair
man and thats Pete Reynolds with the suit on, he owned Reynolds Buick....now deceased. And yes, acording to Jim everything was given to them to do the testing. Funny story from Jim why they were involved with the testing program for the stg2 heads. not Manner, but the other guy with the stg2 GSX was doing the testing from Buick(forget his name) Jim said they got there car running half a second faster with the heads so he called Manner wanting more heads, Manner said they were not going forward with the program because their test car didnt show improvement! Jim told him what they were doing with is car and gave the program another shot! Jim said they almost ceased the head program and in his words because "bless is little heart the fu!@!ker didnt know how to test". Jim says he was an impatient man and would change ten things at once!

Hey scott. It's nice to see somebody closer than 500 miles away form me. One of these days we need to gather the people with buicks on this board and have a meet or somethin somewhere. If I was 16, and had my license, I would probably plan a meet somewhere,( or you), or one of the closer people and have a meet in illinois or in davenport. I would trust my car to go about 300 or 400 miles away, as long as i keep it at 65 mph or less on the highway due to the motor, I like to go a little slower with it on the highway, because of its condition. But it's in acceptable condition. It would make it there and back. Oh, I forgot, I live in keokuk, Iowa. a little town about 40 miles from quincy, ill. Thanks for the help. It is appreciated. we will have to have a meet or a gathering or something somewhere for the close to local buick guys. thanks. P.S. Very nice car Guy.:TU: :3gears: thanks

Guy, do you have the pieces or photos of the original Stage 2 air filter assembly? Also, if you would ever get a chance, can you get pics of the underside of the hood to show how it's cut out for the Stage 2 scoop? There's been lots of questions reguarding how the whole works was setup by the Buick factory when these cars were built. Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

    air cleaner

    Rob-
i will get pics of it for you but will have to email to you. still havent tried to post pics here. like i said this car had some war wounds from racing and one was the hood itself. the scoop and air cleaner are in perfect shape. i'm not even going to restore the air cleaner...still has a gm part number tag on it. but the hood which is a skylark hood has all the frame work cut out of it to lighten it!!! and who ever, cut the opening larger to acept a larger cleaner!?!? I will take pics tomorrow or this weekend if it will help. what i was going to do is talk with Tom Rix that has the other hood that is intact before i cut my skylark hood for the system...but i think he told me i have the only aircleaner made??? it looks like an olds w30 style except made to go on a holley carb not a rochester. Being that there were only three of these scoops made i'm betting there was some cutting of the hood support. Tom would be the man that knows or i could ask Jim Bell if he remembers....hmmm
    Thanks, Guy

I helped Wayne find the heads he was after, he wanted them worse than me. I wanted to find a set somewhere for many years before I bought a car with them this last year, after driving the car I realized I wanted a street car more then having these heads. Wayne put up a wanted post here and I sold him my set after consideration of who would be getting them, he will take better care of them than I would have. I am a racer at heart not into show or restoration and have replaced them with aluminum, I am happy and I hope that Wayne is also, just holding the heads for a short time filled my need for them, the fact that I had them at all is enough for me.

    Thanks Dennis

Last time I talked to Wayne he had not yet found a pair of stage 2 iron heads. Guy, I guess that means the next potential customer needs to step up to the plate.

Love that car and the preview pics too. Are you putting the original script on the sides?

Those original heads sound interesting. What work do they need? Are they beat up or ported any?
