I have heard of a stage II somewhere or another. Did Stage II's really exist?http://www.highwayone.com/Classifieds/Buick/JohnsonBuick.html

^ that's a link to the buick test car for the "stage II". Very interesting:Comp: I need to look further into the question. I have seen another article about the stage II. That guy said he thought the car was stolen and totalled and then crushed by a junkyard. Is this true?:Do No: Thanks.

I still have the article on that car in Buick, Olds, Pontiac Collectors Guide Sept. 93. There were only 2 or 3 real stage 2's produced but were never released. The car Reynolds Buick ordered was a stripped out GS 455 with nothing(not even a heater) in it. As with most other stage 2's, all the parts were ordered thru the parts dept and put in the trunk when it was delivered.

Stage 2, except for say a F/X, was a dealer over the counter engine performance option package from late 68 forward until the supply was exhausted. It covered 400 and 455 engines. Perhaps the 430 cid although I thought there is some debate about the later. Included heads , cam etc. There were GM part numbers assigned.

The car in the ad has the one of the two FACTORY stage 2 hood scoops known to exist. This is the only one accounted for. I would tend to believe that it(and the car)is in a GM prototype storage facility somewhere, maybe.

Stage -2 Pistions for the 430 was an over the counter option from Buick. They had the valve reliefs in the flat top piston.
Also with most of the Stage-2 parts that were ordered over the counter, vary few were dealer installed and had doucs.

According to Dennis Manner and Jim Campbell, one stage 2 was assembled at Flint. It was a '70 Apollo White GSX with one of the other FACTORY stage 2 scoops, manual brake, four speed car that ended up at the Buick Training Center in L.A. and was dismantled at the end of the Stage 2 project. I also have another story of a Stage 2 GSX that burned at Flint in the early '70s(probably the same car which is probably why it was dismantled).

That sounds similar to this guys discription. I have seen buicks on the net that weren't stage 2's but had a black scoop that on both sides say "Stage II", so does somebody custom make these scoops or what?:Do No: I have also seen a few stage III scoops. Somebody has to make these, because there is more than countless enough around. if anyone knows where you could buy these kinda scoops, it would be cool, I would like to have an option like that on one of my buicks in the future. here's the link to the picture of the Stage III scoop on a buick. I've definetely heard the story on Dave's car. It's run at SIR before, here in Seattle and I guess the GS Nats also. Supposedly was one of 2 (3?) Stage II Prototypes built by Buick. One DID burn to the ground on Buick's proving grounds, Tom Rix had/has one, and this (?) one.:Do No: :Do No: :Do No:

Dave's has an aluminum scoop, NOT fiberglass, and Iron Stage II heads. I'm not to sure what's happened to this car though, this was back in 95. Is it currently for sale?

What was the other article that you read about stolen, wrecked, crushed???

This car was not assembled by Buick. Jim Bell built it with parts that were ordered with the car.

I could of swore it was on the "before black" section of the buick webring, but I cant find it now. It was about a yr ago when i read it. Before i was a member of V8buick.com. He said he was one of buicks representitves in 1970 and he said he knew the guy who bought the stage II and he said after he bought it he sold it to some sort of GM place and they did a few tests on it and that night somebody broke into the plant(?) or somewhere and broke into the car and stole it(he said they dont have any proof of how it got stolen or who stole it) and the next day the plant(?) sent out fliers and stuff, and a junkyard called and said they had a car like that and it was totalled. The junkyard swore that whoever stole it dropped it off here at "our junkyard". Whoever it was probably went out for a joyride, not knowing what kind of machine they were driving.:spank: Has anyone ever heard of this story, i wish i could find it, but i searched all the links i could think of and cant find it. I thought this would be a good topic for a buick thread. thanks

    Poston's

Stage 2 Hood Scoop Excellent reproduction of the Buick factory Stage 2 hood scoop. Good for extra 20 horsepower or .2 and 2 mph in the 1/4 mile. This scoop must be used on a Skylark hood. Can't be used on 1970-1972 GS hood as the two openings in the GS hood interfere with the Stage 2 hood scoop.

    Product Code: PE149963

    $89.00
