The few times I have used Gasgacinch, it didn't seem like it was really sticky enough to hold the gasket firmly. that's why I thought the high tack, Indian head Gasket Shellac, or Copper coat might stick better to the block.

I had same problem and good ol Indian Head does the job..

It must be bad for you since it is good nothing leaks thru that

Some people say a light coating of RTV on both side of the gaskets, others say Spray tack or copper coat, and now Gasgacinch. Maybe I should start a Poll.:D

I have used Gasgacinch once and only once. real just tossed it in the trash.
fact is I felt the slime was way to weak.. I prefer rubber contact cement yes drug store stuff... Tire patch glue works great also..

FWIW I used the right stuff on motor this around.... But its still on the stand. No running time with TRS on a buick.... On the SBC no issues about 150hrs.

I dont recommend TRS for first time use.. Stuff takes practice and patience, I still need to seal the oil pump assembly. PT2 or contact cement.

I like Ultra Black RTV. A thin coat, spread out with my finger on both surfaces, with the gasket in between.

    Thanks Dave,
I have all kinds of sealants including all the choices in the poll. The Felpro gaskets won't be here until sometime tomorrow, so I will wait to see what others think. JW should be along sometime tonight. Want to see what he recommends as well.

Did the fuel pump arm self-clearance on the timing chain?:(

When I pulled the intake off for the lifter change, it was on there with the right stuff, and it did not want to come off. When I finally got it off, the AM&P pan came with it. I was short on time and put it back on, not very well. It was seeping from the corners a bit. I put some high temp RTV there , and yes, it is ugly. What I should have done was remove the pan from the bottom of the intake and clean the whole thing. I have a brand new pan, and it is on the list to take the intake back off and do it right. After this job, that's a cake walk.

It shouldn't have. It's a TA cover. I'll take a closer look at it tomorrow. I had some trouble getting the pump arm all the way out of the cover. It was hitting the steering box. I had to loosen the fuel line and turn it to get it all the way out. It's possible I did that scraping it against the opening.

Larry, I stock the SCE gaskets. You should have asked me or I should have mentioned it when we spoke Sunday.

Now is the time to fix the intake. The coolant is drained and that pesky distributor is out of the way!

Well speaking from experience, been doing this along time,40 year ase master tech. I use copper coat on both sides of the tc gasket. Its tacky and doesn't move. Then on the tc side only I use the rite stuff. Also rite stuff on the lower seal and all the bolts too. If you use rtv on both sides the gasket can't adhere to a surface so when torque is applied the gasket can slide either way.

You guys are absolutely right. I might as well. As soon as I get the TC on, I'll get on it.
