Oh, I've been down that rabbit hole, just recently in fact. What started as a transmission leak, the "while we're here" took over and pretty soon, the engine was out and blown apart. Going back together now and all freshened up . Never again.

Ahhh, No, I'm not going there.:) The cam gear is fine. There is some shading there from the florescent light hanging behind me.

Haven't really had to touch this engine in 8 years. Been a while since I did this job so I figured I would get as much advice as I could. Doing a little bit every day. It's coming along.

I was just poking at the number of replies in a short time. All in fun.
I like how you painted the heads and intake, makes yours look so tame.(stockish)
Did you do that from day 1?

No worries.:) Yes I did. I like to paint all things aluminum. The paint lasts forever because aluminum dissipates heat so fast. Some guys like the aluminum color, I tell them to paint it that color.

Finished up today. The oil pump primed right up no problem. The GS is back in action with no coolant leaks. Now I just need to clean up all the coolant residue on the bottom of the engine and exhaust from it spraying while I drove home:(

Of course when it rains it pours, my 98 Riviera decided to pop a rusty brake line. Out comes my roll of nickel copper line and Mastercool flaring kit. I'll tackle that this week.

Thanks to all who posted with advice. I appreciate all of it. Even the good natured jabs!:D

I used copper coat on both sides of the gasket. I did that because Jim texted me "copper coat or high tac or aviation sealer... Not gasket maker"

Had the car out today. Checked the timing, 34* fixed, 10* of vacuum advance, set. Man, the Duplicolor paint really stinks when it bakes in. Car is running good. No coolant leaks.
