The PontiOldsmoBuicks of the 1980s. Absolutley Hideous!!!! Clearly designed inside-out to give a big car interior to a smaller car. What with the faux cantilevered windshield? I couldn't have asked for a better, more trouble free car....but darn its ugly!!
Buick had a similar one. I remember my pop went to trade in his 73 Century and came home with the "fastback" version like this one but it was silver with a burgundy red interior. I was so disappointed...it was however, the first car my pop bought with an FM stereo :TU: Sadly, that car was wrecked when a drunk diplomat crossed the center line and nearly killed my folks and was never charged. The bright side was, they replaced it with a nicer looking Burgundy on Burgundy 1982 Regal.
I see a guy here in Bowling Green, Ky driving one of these almost every day. The car is clean but different.

The worst car BMW ever put on the road. Whoever designed that ugly bitch should be fired and whoever approved it for production should go with them.
What about one of these? We knew them in the Philippines as a "Sakbayan", I guess they were originally designed in Australia as a VW Country Buggy in the late 60s.
Reviving a 10-year-old thread. Wow! Actually I don't think that the Matador was all that ugly, but painting one a purplish pink changes things.
The Germans have a term for this, it's "Arsch-haesslich", which is a little stronger than "butt-ugly", and to think someone paid real money for that thing.
You're both wrong – it's the '61 Plymouth that ate Tokyo. But there's a certain kitsch appeal that makes it also VERY attractive. The '62 is much more lovable in comparison, only because it looks better than the '61, especially in Sport Fury guise.
Yeah, the roofline helps tremendously, but the '62 kinda has a contemporary look – almost European in some respects.
Both years of those cars were hideous. It took Chrysler years to recover from that, they went from Virgil Exner's wild side to arch conservatism inside 3 years, and lost market share everywhere if it wasn't for the muscle cars they made, they'd have gone broke in 1969. The weird thing about those 61-62 cars is that they're so incredibly ugly they're beautiful. I've got a few clocks like that... Just like this thing, it's an 1860's French made thing, runs like a trooper, just hideous though. I love it. I'm sure you'll find most guys who have a 61 Belvedere feel the same way about their cars, as they sit behind that square steering wheel.
Compare the Mopars with a '61 Buick and you'll see how GM was at the top of its game.....all GM full-sizers are gorgeous.
