My pick of ugly Buicks would be any 65 GS or Skylark. Then the 68-69 Skylark series cars...Any Convertible should be considered. To be honest,You wont ever have to fight me for any vert..Downright Ugly as heck...
My 81 Toyota Celica/Sunchaser is the ugliest cars ever! If it didnt get an AWSOME 35-40 MPG and wasnt a convertable, I would get rid of it. Here is a picture of it.
I can't resist busting on late 70's junk. Does the Grenada look like a Mercedes competitor or a Mr. Potatohead car with the grill and chrome stuck on?
I now prefer to think of the boattail as a "butter-face" car. kinda ugly up front and pretty sexy from the back.
What a variation in opinions! Some of the cars mentioned I love. I now understand why companies made some weird looking vehicles. Because someone out there liked them. How about a 80's Dodge Mirada with a fake converible top? What a joke.
Here is another list http://images.businessweek.com/ss/07/08/0824_uglycars/index_01.htm?chan=rss_topSlideShows_ssi_5 I don't think he Gremlin and the Vega look that bad. I like the '68/'69 Buicks... I also like the '73 MonteCarlo's, they have a similar body "swoop" line. o No: Here is a photo for BignastyGS and Bad Boattail.... Ugly my A$$:af:
I'd just like to have seen the 68-69's have a rear wheelwell like the 70-72's. I bet that would have made them look nicer in the end. BTW....who am I to talk?I own a 73 GS which my wife absolutely hates and hates the color as well.
You know, with the right body style/trim/color/wheel combo, most designs can look downright cool. I wonder how designers can sleep at night when they are forced to make compromises in order to make one design work for such a wide range of applications: coupe, convertible, 4 door sedan, notchback, fastback, dog-dish caps, magnum 500 wheels, landau tops... oy. Personally, I've been struggling to find pics of cool boattails to use as inspiration for my car's restoration. A quick surf of boattail club sites does not really satisfy what I'm looking for. Most of the cars shown seem to include some element (whitewall tires, bumperettes, chrome hubcaps, color combo etc...) that make the car look like a geriatric abortion instead of the musclecar that I know it can (see pooods' car). I think the 68/69 Skylarks may suffer with the same issue. In an effort to retract my previous "butter-face" comment, i offer the following pics: (from a recent ebay listing...)
Hey, who was the guy who hated the 68/69??? We STARTED the whole Stage1 thing. I love the swooping body lines. Pure designing genious!!
AMC Eagle 4x4 wagon with woodgrain sides. early eighties. Also remember the early 80's Challenger/Sapporo somewhat compact car. I am trying to erase most of the eighties stuff in my brain: Neon color clothes, Kajagoogoo, The Lecar, Pet shop boys, Wham!!! The 4 door Chevette. The Ford Escort 4 door. Make it stop !!! AAAGH!
I think those early 70's Rivs are damn sexy....they look like a mid-60's Vette that grew up and said 'NOW whatcha got?!?' :3gears:
avanti i agree fugly tha tnew mitsu truck and honda ridgline are awful too i like the amc cars and 86-90 vics
New BMW's especially the 635 CSI And the Audi Q 7 and the Hummer.:moonu: :moonu: :moonu: :moonu: All there cars are for fags!
Early 90's GM minivans including the Lumina van/ Transport/ Silohette. All with the slanted nose "anteater" front end. Looks like it might be at home on the Lunar surface!
