The Euro model has prevailed. Florence will stop its forward motion around the N.C. coast causing 12 feet of storm surge with wave action on top. It then may move southwest affecting the S.C. and Ga. coasts. The hurricane force wind field is about 150 miles in diameter. The force behind the change is the massive blocking high pressure center building in its current path.

Good luck to all. Hopefully it will not stall like Harvey.

Tt is forecast to stall along the coast and the rainfall is projected to be 20-40" in some locations.

Be safe guys. On another note looks like our East Coast Regionals will be questionable for friday but saturday is a go. See you then.

I’m right on the coast in New Bern so I got the wife and kids out yesterday. The Corps told us to evac at COB yesterday. Hoping the Buick and the house does ok but stuff is stuff I guess. Very curious to see how this turns out.

Mathew was a direct hit on North Myrtle Beach. I have a condo there in an older 3 story complex that is elevated. Hope it does well this time, but there is nothing I can do about it. Oh well. The army corps just built the beach back. Errrrr..

I'd be rolling that car to higher ground if I were you.

Seems to me that if he got his family out, it's just a car. Depending on the condition of the car and agreed value insurance, maybe you want to park it near the beach:D

I am 1 mile away from the Atlantic and we are staying. Storm surge is not my concern. Hi wind with all the trees I have is a concern and so is flash flooding or large amounts of rain. My sump pump works great, has back up power truck battery.
We have all the supplies we'll need and it took me half a day to secure all the cars. Another few hours to get all the wifes chochkies and plants off the deck, porch and patio. They now reside in my garage.

    Here's some pics.....

Here are some shots from Tuesday:
First one is two hours after high tide on the Atlantic.
Second one is of the Marsh which is right behind the houses on the Atlantic ocean.
Glad I changed my mind about an ocean front home when I moved down here....mainly because of the cars.
When the hurricane hits the marsh and the ocean becomes ONE and hopefully your million dollar home doesn't end up as debris in the marsh.

Back up generation is essential. A sump pump will drain a battery perhaps before you can get back on the power grid.

I wanted to get it up on jack stands before I left but I had to shuffle the whole garage around and ran out of time and space. My little brother is deployed and I’m watching his Jeep and I wanted to do right by him and squeeze it in the garage. I’ve got a new frame and doors and a bunch of other stuff in there. I was able to get the GS right up to the workbench and crawl out the pass side. I had 69 inches to squeeze his 66 inch wide jeep in and made it work. Wasn’t any room to left to jack her up. My neighbors have been there for a few hurricanes and said that the area does really good with not flooding and my whole yard slopes away from the house so fingers are crossed.

I did debate driving it out instead but just wasn’t sure what the gas or traffic/idiot situation was gonna be. That and I will have to go right back in once it passes to help clean up.

That’s a whole lot of Buick right by me and I hadn’t ever seen them around.
