Dang, I agree with Larry? :) I say take the Crazy electric car also, and give us your outstanding opinion. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that. You might be out standing on the side of the road. LMAO

I love electric cars, but I recommend taking the gas burner. Too many unknowns with the charging situation and the range is too close to the trip length.

    Just my 2c.

Uhhhhh I think I’d offer to drive.
My cousin in Canada just bought a bolt for commuting in town and such, he said he wouldn’t trust it as far as range goes for long trips. Soooooo you just spent money on a new electric vehicle that you don’t trust for longer trips, so you default to the ICE powered car/truck, so you have a 30/40 thousand dollar new car that’s just for short trips????

Most people use their cars for short trips 90%+ of the time. Charging is a mystery to new users. Tesla has a robust and easy to access high speed charging network, so for those cars you are set in the US at least.

The Bolt is an excellent car with lots of power and comfort too. It's charging is a bit harder on the road, because you need to figure out the third party charging puzzle. This usually involves a smart phone and and an understanding of what kind of charger you need. Once you have that going, your comfort level will increase.

    BUICKRAT Got any treats?

Take the bolt and possibly suffer? You guys are nuts. What about stops for drinks/food etc. Yer gonna eat up way more electricity than you think. Not to mention, those "fast" charging stations will have a waiting line, and they do not give you a full charge, so you will more than likely have to stop again for another "fast" charge after you have to wait in line again. I'd call it an exercise in futility. And since when did a/c cost/use less energy than heat? Maybe electric heat, in the harshest environments, but an ICE car provides that for almost free. Electric cooling is at least as costly, if not way more, than heating. Not sure where Larry got his info from, but real-world experience disputes it.

Tell you what, let him take the bolt, you take the gas burner, and you guys can compare.

Should be a buyer's market shortly. I hate for bad things to happen but opportunity rarely knocks twice.

It won't be 2008 again. Vehicles cost way too much now to trade in. A deal will be hard to find imo. Folks are buried up to their necks in their full size trucks and SUVS.

AAA will have to start going around giving “EV charges “ when people run out of juice .

I say take the electric " A man's got to know his limitations er I mean elec car" lol

If you lived in town and went to work there I would say the elec car would work great. If that would happen the cities would be as clean as a blue sky. Then we could all live happily ever after.

Then I will get the Hot Rod out and gas up the entire neighborhood with that race gas smell Ohhh Yeahhh :D
