BTW.. I converted the flex fan setup to all electric and gained about 100HP uzzled: uzzled: .. Or maybe 5??? My as*hole can't tell the difference. Going to order the Mallory ignition box next week with a two stage and boost retard. Then I'll go back to the strip and see if I can get a respectable time..
I really need some 100 hp fans to go with my 50 hp spark plugs, 25 hp oil additive, and 15 hp air cleaner. :bla: Larry (Weekender) just went to the Mallory and loves it.
I really need to take these 17 pages worth of crap and make a summary.. A condensed version starting from where I got good oil pressure and had a strong running 350.. What do you think?? I ordered a Mallory Hyfire 6 box with a map sensor.. It has 10* start retard and boost retard as well. My plan is to run 34* initial timing ( idles like a champ there). Pull 1 degree per pound of boost. That puts me back at the 26* i'm running now.. It's a simple plan for simple man.. It runs Soooooo good I almost hate to mess with it..
good deal, you're making tune setup easier for me time I actually get those two blowdryers on the car :TU:
Broke it... The tapered bolt that holds the rearmost part of the rocker conversion kit to the head broke off flush with the head. The plate steel where the rocker studs screw in bent and allowed enough play the the rocker swiveled off of the pushrod.. To top that off, one of the hex head tapered bolts that secures the plate to the head stripped while trying to remove it.. Locktite..... So, now I have a stripped bolt and a broken bolt in a head that is probably easier to remove by pulling the engine out.. To top that off I will need to come up with a way to secure this plate to the head in a stronger fashion than just these bolts.. And I will need to do both sides. Guess it's parked for a while... That's a big mess..
Vrooom Vroom.. Runs again.. Bought some very nice Socket head cap screws (that's what they are called) to secure the rocker stud plate to the head also used JB weld this time as well. I think it will be OK now. All of the studs are screwed in with a pipe wrench and JB weld also.. If it ever comes apart again I will get someone to weld the entire assembly to the head and weld the studs in place as well.. There ain't no goin back... Waiting on my wife to put the bottom valve cover bolts ino No: .. Only two of them are hard. One, I made a special tool for.. On a side note. I got the Mallory Hyfire 6 box and it looks really neat. It has up to 20* start retard. Programable boost retard two rev limiters and it's all programable with buttons and a digital display on the box.. The whole setup was less than $300 and it comes with connectors and hardware as well.. That's a deal baby..
No you weren't.. You were looking on with amusement like everyone else.. Just kidding.. I don't take any of it too seriously. It's just something to play with.. I have absolutely beat the **** out of this thing and it just keeps on keeping on.. I have a whole engine on a stand I'm trying t decide what to do with it. Even have forged pistons.. Low comp and high comp..
You know what you need to do.... Build a 369 Cube stroker using e-bay rods! I know that it sounds like a good idea to me since it worked so well for those guys in Michigan.
