Where would that be? Never saw anything about that during a quick perusal of his wikipedia page. I stand corrected... the article credits many Canadian performances, but references no renditions in the United States. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mull_of_Kintyre_(song)
Yes, Wings Over America summer 1976! Single biggest regret of a show missed in my lifetime. I was only 11 yo At the time but had been a huge McCartney fan for years already. Begged my older brothers to take me but there was no way parents would ever have let me go to a rock concert at that age. I’m pretty sure Jimmy McCullough was the lead guitarist for that tour, love his work on the Venus and Mars album. regret of missed show in the moment: Jeff Healey Steve weim55 Colorado
The Wings Over America live album is my all time favorite! I have the album, CD & DVD of the concert! I have listened so many times, I can sing all the songs on it! LOL I was 14 at the time & could not find anyone to take me to the concert. I am pretty sure Jimmy Mc. & Denny Lane were both on the tour God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
A friend of mine had 4 tickets for Todd Rundgren. I wasn't a big fan but he convinced me to go when he said he was bringing his cousin from France and it would be me and his cousin along with him and his girlfriend. The clincher was that his cousin was a model and my friend said she was eager to meet American guys since she was with other female models the whole time she was in the US and was leaving the following day. My friend picks me up and I hop in the back seat...the cousin is sitting there in the back and she is drop dead gorgeous! I figure I'll charm her with my French skills and be in like Flynt. Well, we start driving and after a few minutes she says she doesn't feel good. Couple more minutes and she says frantically we need to pull over...we are on the LIE and my friend says ok, will pull off on the next exit. Well, we didn't make it....she puked all over me and the back seat, some even made it up to the front of the car. It came out like the exorcist! Smelled like crap too. Needless to say we missed Todd Lundgren and I didn't get lucky either
A friend and I were working at the Surry nuke plant in VA and staying in Hampton Roads around '83 or '84. We were off Saturday night and had a decision to make; Cheap Trick was playing at this little place called Mothers Boathouse, and Genesis was playing at the local coliseum, this was during the tour for their Genesis album that had the songs "That's All" and "Mama". Well being two young single guys, we figured there would be more of a chance meeting women at a small club serving beer! So Cheap Trick it was! We get there and it's an all ages show, no beer The show was still good, we were real close to the stage. But after the show we're riding back to the hotel and hearing the radio DJ blabber on about how amazing the Genesis show was...figures
Geez, there are too many to even start. Let's just list the ones I have attended: Elton John in Fargo ND. Page & Plant in Fargo ND (enjoyed the ambience!). Fleetwood Mac in Fargo ND (outdoor concert while attending BB camp LOL). Panic! at the Disco in Glendale AZ with my 13 yr old.
Man oh man... I hope the concert season fires back up! We missed seeing the Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas tour 2020, a family tradition.
That is FREAKING AWESOME ! That is the song that they start EVERY MECUM auction with ! Really gets the crowd pumped. Peace WildBill
