It's a seller's market with those cars. Every advertised price has an asterisk next to it with a ton of stipulations and rebates. It's the norm these days.

You are absolutely right Mr. Hunter, but at least I stayed "LOYAL" to the GM brand. I was in shock when I saw he crossed over to the MOPAR side.
He'll probably be cruising with his new Challenger buddies that have at least a dozen Plum Crazy Mopars on Long Island.

Jason, come on down to the Deep South. Spring has sprung at the Mooney estate, temps are now in the 70s and we can jump all over the Ford boys down here with our new toys.

It's the game they play - Bait and Switch. Sometimes they say the car is on the lot and they don't even have it, just to get you to come to the lot. It is a very old game and there should be more in the way of repercussions than just negative feedback.

I bought a new dodge minivan 5 months ago and still fighting with them for the owners manual.
noticed not in the glove box as soon as I got it home after a visit and many phone calls...last week they told me I have to pay for one ...I told em that I didn't care if it was 10 cents to buy one but its all about principles ....I hung up on them

An 8 was too generous, in my opinion. I probably would have walked. I quit the car sales business when the tactics were getting more unscrupulous than I could take. Managers were aholes who were out to screw customers and salespeople.

Jason, I will post more when I have more time, but this is 100% true. A 9 is a 0, which is why he was so adamant about getting you to score all 10s. He's probably close to losing some kind of incentives from Dodge......its a crazy world in the dealership, especially the sales side, which is why I can count on both hands the number of times I've been on my place of employment's showroom floor in 5 years even though it's only 100 feet from my desk......I hate salesmen with a passion. You were more than fair.

I guess things are different everywhere. I just bought a 2019 Buick Regal TourX locally. The entire transaction minus the test drive took a bit over an hour, and the salesman even took the time to explain things about the car I might not have been aware of. They even included a lifetime power train warranty. But, the Mopar dealers in this town all have sorry reputations, so it might be a problem inherent with FCA.

It’s still a badass car though. I suggest driving the wheels off of it.

    Yeah, you were too nice!
I was such an Azzhole to the dealership that I bought my Power Wagon from that they delivered it to my house. And trust me, they deserved to be bitched at. If it wasn't a special order truck i would have just turned my back and walked away.

It’s harder to walk away from the deal when the cars is just what your looking for. Also the rims are better looking in person than in pictures

Hopefully that feeling stays but I'd guess the excitement will wear off in about 6 months and you'll begin to get tired of it. Then you'll get sick of it, then you'll hate it.

Three years ago I just had to have a Chevy SS. Australian made by Holden, what the G8 Pontiac turned into when Pontiac ceased to exist. Sweet car! 6.2 LS3 with 6 speed manual, magnetic ride control, dual mode exhaust, the car will even park itself... Got the color I wanted too. SlipStream Blue Metallic. One of only 269 in that color and one of only 69 with a sunroof and manual Trans.
Car handles exceptionally well for a +4K pound ride.
Loved driving it, and thrashing it!
But it's just a new car that gets old, nothing special. Sold it back to the dealer yesterday. I couldn't wait to sell it because I never drove it. Had 10787 miles after 3 years and most of that was put on in the first year. Took a pretty big hit too, but not nearly as much if I'd bought a Camaro or Vette or what you bought. Maybe it'll be different for you, but there's just something about old iron that makes me comfortable. I have a hunch that you're the same.
    Good Luck

I’ve only bought two new cars and both were smooth transactions from the same dealer. That said there are horror stories about several dealerships in the area. My dealer met me in the middle on a $1000 discount I didn’t qualify for and we settled on $500. It was some group I was not a member of. I think you were more than fair Jason.
The car we bought was also a Scat Pack Challenger and we also love our car. Your car looks great, enjoy it! Having vintage muscle and modern muscle is the best of both worlds and they each fill a void in unique ways.

OK, Jason, you liked the car enough to pay for it. That's the first problem, once they sense that they have you by the short and curlies and they will use that. The mark up on a new car is something in the order of 35-45%, depending on the manufacturer. So that means what the car actually costs the dealership is around 60% of sticker. The rest is used to finance salaries, real estate, ad campaigns, etc. So there's a lot of wiggle room. I used to work at a dealer doing transfers and handled a lot of cheques on cars that we would pick up and bag the snot out of before the poor unsuspecting customer would get it. So when the time came and I bought a brand new car that had to be transferred, I went and got it myself. So I know the drill.
I'd still call the Better Business Bureau and make things uncomfortable for them, bait and switch is technically illegal. You did the right thing by hammering them on the survey; - and well written too, very well done. Now hold out for that extra $2K and don't accept the oil changes!

I have had good and bad experiences the last several years buying new cars, many of the bad ones are similar to above. However few years ago I had an itch for a Mopar too, however, as it was used for work and my company compensated me for it on the back end, it had to be a 4 door. I searched on line and found a leftover Hemi Charger RT in the color I wanted with more options, (Track Pack, Moonroof, suede AC Seats, Lane assist, etc), than I thought they even made for an advertised 14K off MSRP. I was looking nationwide and this deal was by far the best I had seen and seemed like a hoax, but the dealer had solid reviews and was only an hours drive from me.

I called first, asked if they had the car and they said yes, it had 100 miles on it and the internet price would be honored. I said I was a cash buyer and with all due respect, I am looking for a simple transaction, i.e. I hand them a check, I get the keys, no finance office BS about lifetime warranties, interior treatments, and no hidden dealer fees. He assured me that he would make it happen.

I showed up, checked out the car, and was out the door in 40 minutes, I thought the cops might chase me I felt so good about the deal. Just hit it right on that one.
