Pissed off another person at the car show

I'll never understand clones. I mean, if that's what you think looks cool, then go for it. But I don't understand the other reasons for creating them. I don't even understand the obsession with originals. To me, pretty sheetmetal is pretty sheetmetal. No way would I ever spend 20 thousand dollars extra for what is essentially a few letters, a slightly different paint job, and a minor performance package. I don't give a crap about any of that. It's why I would just as readily buy a cheap '67 Lemans as a '67 GTO (my other dream car, besides my Skylark), although I'll admit, I would swap a GTO hood onto it (the scoop is an essential part of the look). Anyway, my point is, why argue? It's no big deal in the end.

People at car shows who really irritate ME are the kind who come half naked, with no interest whatsoever in the cars, and try to force their way into every picture, no matter how family-oriented that picture was originally intended to be. The other group of people who really irritate me are the people who follow THOSE people around like a bunch of mutts, getting in everyone's way and blocking the cars so they can obnoxiously flirt with some attention seeking high school girl half their age.

Oh, and the people who irritate me the MOST: the guys with bad goatees and 5 gallons of lard smeared in their hair (or an oversized cowboy hat) who usually drive 70's Cadillacs with classy accessories like tractor plow spikes bolted to the front bumper, usually with two of those half-naked attention seekers on each side, who drive through crowds as if they own the place, just expecting everyone to get out of the way or be hit, and then park in such a way as to take up as much space as possible. Sometimes I'd like to just impale those guys on their own plow spikes.

Unless I'm trying to buy a car , who cares if its a clone or not? His car and can do what he wants, I know the difference and love real anything over clone any day of the week. Atleast the guy loves Cars, just don't got money for the real thing.

It irks me a little when someone intentionally passes off a clone for a real car. And to be devious about it by hiding the VIN. Its almost like theft. I don't have any problem with clones, especially well done ones. Personally I'd love to own a 69 Camaro ZL-1 clone. But to hide the VIN, and claim its a Boss when it's clearly a fake is another story. I wasn't trying to be rude with my initial comments. I basically told him that it was so well done that it almost fooled me. And it really was. He had all the right stuff on it. All that was missing was the R in the VIN. When he told me it was a real Boss, I felt obligated to call him on his lie. Don't like liars either

back in the late 80's,i watched a guy slowly turn a gold 69 sport satellite into a GTX

every car show more GTX specific parts would be applied to the car

he even added a 440 vin tag on the dash

at a show in Birmingham,i told him i had a sport satellite

and wanted to do the same thing he did to his

he was shocked because he thought nobody over the years would notice

if you ever see a gold 69 GTX,look under neath for the bolted on front sway bar brackets

    that's his car:Dou:

This is my Buick. This photo is of my Dad and my oldest brother in the late 70's, he purchased the car in the early 70's and sold it to me last year ... My car has been in the family longer than I have!

My car has non original interior ... it was all re-done in the 80's ... there is a funny story behind that that involves a cat getting out of its box on to the vet .. you should hear my mom and dad tell it! ... lol

My car has a wrong sized non original nail head in it .... dad has a story about that too ... hilarious .... He was such a ding dong when he was younger!

My car has a stage one symbol on the grille ... Sad story goes with that .. it is all that was left of my Dads favorite car after he was hit by a drunk driver ...

My car is no longer the original colour ... Apparently my pet goats used it for a jungle gym one weekend ... lol ...

I guess point is that my car would probably be the laughing stock of a car show the way it sits but it is my car and full of stories!

Is that Charcoal mist or the orchid violet color? But most definitely, cars with stories to tell are the best!

As far as clones go, I'm good with them as long as people don't pass them off as the real thing. And I've got a lot of respect for the creativity and effort that goes into a custom. But the one thing I'll never be ok with is cloning 1st gen Firebirds into Camaros. It's just plain wrong! :spank:

What gets me is when I used to take my 72 GS455 conv to shows and the rarity wasn't taken into account. A Skylark with Armorall on everything would place higher. Sitting around at car shows isn't for me anyway......

Very rarely at a show, someone will ask if my car is a real Stage 1. I always reply "No they were on the car when I got it"
Cause they were. Id love to take them off but they are the wide pin variety and the 455 emblems wont cover the holes.
Im with Jason....I don't have a problem with clones, its the dishonesty I don't like.
Thought if I ever paint the car, 455 badges will go back on.
