This is pretty standard slab construction across the South: thickened edge slabs, where the edges are deeper to support the weight of the walls. Built many of these over the years. Don't need insulation underneath in that part of the world. You do have to put plastic under the slab to prevent moisture weeping though. Here's one I did a couple years ago.
Insulation under the concrete makes a huge difference in heating & COOLING! We have both and I can see a big difference. Keith
I would NOT put any windows in. I have 3 good reasons for this. 1) Every opening cut into the wall will be an energy leak. Nobody puts good high quality windows in an outbuilding. 2) Now your losing valuable wall/storage space. They can sometimes limit where bigger equipment can be placed. 3) Security! No explanation needed. Keith
agree . I put a good size window in my garage and within a month I covered it up from inside so no one could see in , DOH !
Do you plan to insulate it? My metal walls get oven hot in the summer. Moisture is a big issue for me in the winter too. Was told that I was supposed to have insulation done while building was put up. Now my only option is closed cell spray insulation....which will cost nearly as much as the building as I understand it.
I put windows in my shop. Without AC (and insulation), temp gets well over 100 degrees in the summer in the South, and I need all the airflow I can get (fans fans everywhere). I just put mini blinds over the windows and close them when I'm not in there so no yahoos see my stuff.
I used snow in a can to block my windows....you know the Christmas decoration stuff. Been up there for a couple years now. It'll wipe right off if I ever want to.
The electrician worked today and put in the outlets and lights. Waiting on inspector to sign off on work on Friday. Spray foam insulation next
I don’t know the cost of the shop by its self, I got a bid for total turnkey with all concrete and building plus a door cut into my existing garage and some extra sidewalks pored
