Great work! I'm pretty sure my car is that same Aquamarine color now, although it was originally Ivory. The previous owner didn't like the pale yellow look, I don't blame him! I've subscribed to this thread and can't wait to see her done! The color does look really nice in the sun.
Think of me when your done with the red one Harvey. I have a dream of one of each and an auto convertible would complete the team. convertible 4 speed & auto hardtop 4 speed & auto
Every car I've done so far has been "stock" but this one will be different. Here are suspension upgrades i ordered from CPP Friday. 4 wheel disc brake kit, all suspension parts including coil overs with Q1 shocks.
new pic of 67 convert resto #1 Just got the top installed. I had a black top but switched to the white. It looks much better with white vs. black. Harvey
Very interested in the progress because I actually just started a body off restoration on the Skylark! Cloning to a GS. Keep the pix coming! :TU:
Hi Harvey, The white top exudes a little more class for the present styling and brings out the AMI paint, but the black top lends to a more down-to-business look. And you may have heard the remark, elsewhere, but the red-line tires would go so well with the other red colour cues on the body. Hope we can get together soon! Take care, Nando.
Engine, trans & suspension update A little more progress on the mechanical side. New brake & fuel lines installed. Front & rear suspension completed. Modified the frame trans crossmember brackets to fit the longer 5 speed. Nice Boyd wheels too! Body is almost ready to go back on the frame so we're progressing nicely.
Very Nice project. That CPP font tubular stuff is nice. I have it on my 71' Really nice ride tight but not harsh. My alignment guy spent a bunch a time to get it straight but it worked out you will like it.
Not much happening since it left for the shop, but it is back together and has been taken down to bare metal. The guys were happy with what they found after removing several layers of old paint. The metal wasn't nearly as bad as it looked. Nice to have honest bodymen who don't tell you it was way WORSE than they thought!
In case you didn't see the other thread about the quarter and upper door belt moldings, I purchased a set of GTO moldings from The Parts Place and they worked perfectly for the GS. FYI, in case you are looking for moldings. These are the optional moldings to which the outer window felts attach. Harvey
My first experience with CPP was on a 67 442 that I put them on a couple of years ago. I agree completely. Great ride and handling but they must be set up properly by a good front end man. Harvey
