By the price they said they were, they must of been almost donated to them. I would have put on some other style myself.
I watched the show today and wondered why they would use nice paint over bad bodywork. Then I read here that the car was being crushed. That made sense to me, why do good work when you are only going to show it on tv? Then I read that it isn't going to be crushed...........
Well thank's guy for your honest opinions...... Some like it and some dont but either way im glad your watching the show. Over all i digg the buick and not a huge fan of the wheels but their simular to the stock rallys. Not to mention how hard it is to find even a decent lookin wheel for under 200 bucks. Dont believe me ,give it a try... The car looks a lot better after driving it around some and the springs settle. It rides and cruises like a dream. so guys keep watchin there is more to come. c y'all bye
Hey Tommy, I like the fact you decided to do something different and work on a car that many would never consider. It is a new take on "Run what you brung" or "mod what you got". I see cars and I may care for the color or wheels and yet admire what the owner has done. I think you may have shown a new generation that you can put something cool on the streets and it not be another Fox Body Mustang. Thanks John
I'm sorry, but those wheels look nothing like the stock rallys...and as far as finding wheels for less than 200, if you had looked for wheels that weren't so big, you might not have had such problems. Besides, if you were on such a budget, you should've just cleaned and repainted the stockers. God those wheels are horrendous. You should've saved up a few more bucks and just got some 24's and made a Donk out of it...THAT'S how ridiculous the car looks. Usually, you guys do great work, but this time you really hosed this build up. From the engine, to the paint job, to the wheels. Send it to the scrapper and try again. Next time, stay away from the Buick's.
Well, thats about it. Tommy will never come back here...  All kidding aside, I like the car but would really like to see it on a set of wheels the reasonable folk would use. One of my neighbors with a nice 69 Firechicken put them dumbass 20 inch wheels on his car; ruined an otherwise nice restomod.
well sorry guys i dont think id roll around on 14s/15s either . like i said 20s may be a little big for me but 15s on the same token are to small for my taste.
I like the car. But I don't care for the rubber band style tires. Needs some white letter tires on 15/16. I am glad you guys did an odd ball Buick and not the usuall 69 camaro or Hemi this or 70 SS Bla Bla Bla. Keep up the good work.
I don't think the wheels look that bad. I would have put Weld pro stars on the car. 15x10 with M/T 295-65 street radials on the back. 15x5 on front with skinnies.
Don't get me wrong...it's the overall impression of the car that, to me, just is too much. Big wheels CAN look good on such a big car, but with that loud of a paint job, they have to be perfect to not make the car look ridiculous. if they wanted bigger wheels, some 18's would've gone far to fill those big wheel well's, but still give you some decent rubber to work with and look classy. I think something along the line of these, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PCW-1069-8973/ or these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRR-610B885045/?rtype=10 would've worked a lot better with the whole "Musclecar" theme. Other than the interior, i don't see how we're going to get much more out of her. Those wheels effectively kept them from throwing too much power at it, unless they plan to run her with some different tires. Oh well, to each their own I guess.
I'm not sure on bolt circle sizes on big cars vs mid-size cars, but I would've liked to see something along the lines of these, which I picked up through members on the board here for $300 total (all four) ORIGINAL Keystones:
Cars are alot like opinions (well just extensions of) ...... good and bad.... Rallys look great on the right car, like stock styled restored ones... But thats wasn't the direction we were going. We wanted people to think. (out of the box). That way we could get people to try something a little different. And the buick is!! Granted some people dont like it, but alot of others do. Personally i think its WAY cool especially for the money. And id bet a dollar to a donut that this car will help change peoples thoughts on giving the 73-77 GM's a chance.
people dont run the big wheels bacause they look good they run them so they can brag about how big they are the 20s barely fit in the wheel wells anything bigger would just look more out of proportion they could have at least put smaller wheel in the front for a little rake
I agree Tommy, I never did "love" that body style but I like what you did with it. I do like the side profile, its the front is what killed it on that car for me. but with the bumper mod you did... I thought that looked amazing. nix those wheels and id drive it LOL I would have like to see some repro 18" Buick Ralleys And I agree that you cant please everyone, but I for one was content enough with seeing a Buick on TV. As the saying goes, any PR is good PR and I think you opened a few eyes to the Buick world for sure. so is there going to be a second stage to this project as hinted earlier? Gonna send that 455 over to the horsepower show? Get some big HP numbers out of that motor and really show everyone what a Buick can do!
