I'm so glad that actually did something with the car after the show was finished with it.

I don't know how true it is, but I have heard that some shows (like Trucks!) have to crush the cars after the shows, or return them back to their original state.

    That is Awesome!!!!
How would one get the chance to buy a project car, was it advertised or all about who you know?
Still great that it will remain on the road..

The wheels have grown on me, but I still think a Buick Rally wheel would set that car off! On the show when it still had the rally wheels on it, it looked great.

All in all, I loved the PR from a Buick being on the show, now if only Horse Power would build a Buick 455 :Do No:

It is a relief that somebody was able to buy it. I would think that selling it as-is might be tough for a company because of emmissions or safety reasons. Could be some liability involved.

Those wheels aren't bad at all when you see them up close. They have that "Rally" flavor. The problem is there's not enough sidewall rubber around them with that 20" wheel. Bumping up the tire size another 1" or more would help out nicely and still fit the fenderwell no problem.

I called dibs at 299 HP just a few answers above and they came in at 290. Just pulling that air cleaner off might have done it. Keep it in the trunk for shows. That HP doesn't sound like much when people are always throwing big HP numbers around but in that car with traction that is easy 12's.

Hopefully the new owner can wring it out at a Buick event and get some real times for it. A little this and that and he'll be flying.

It was really cool to see that car show up at our meeting today. Nobody was
expecting it and we had already been through a pretty impressive line up of
    people talking.

The car has a really nice stance. I'm also not much of a fan of that style
wheels but in person, they actually work really well on the car.

The owner is an advertiser on the show and plans to use the car to promote
his products. I think he was able to purchase the car because he was in the
right place at the right time.

A few more pictures of the car including more of the signatures on the roof
and the door handle detail. Sorry, didn't have my good camera or I would have
    taken a lot more.

I'm not one for the "donk" rims, but the rims on this one are really nice looking and suit the car well. I was talking to Michael (the owner) and his son, they will be adding seatbelts and doing some other things to it.

So, I work for the Horsepower TV show. We are thinking of building a 350 buick we picked up from a wrecking yard. I want to keep somewhat of a realistic budget. I would love some feedback and comment, thought or questions. Please keep the profetional and g rated. I will use some of these ideas for our planning meeting on this build. Thank you for all of your comments on Blue Collar buick, they are what help us plan shows that you would like to see.

Welcome to the board. I'd recommend starting a new thread as this one will be overlooked by a bunch of members sice it's so old. I'm a 350 believer so this is going to be good but beware. You may need a flame suit. The Buick 350 is the underrated overlooked and much maligned little motor that could but for some reason it does'nt even get much repect here either.

If you do build one on the show  I think it will be a suprise to many as long as your'e not expecting 8,000 rpm sbc numbers out of it. If only there were as much aftermarket support for the Buick as other small blocks it would be a world beater but the reality is that most even really healthy builds are with 40 year old stock parts.

My simple recipe. A later short block(better stock rods) with the required pistons for around 10 to 1 cr, 70 to 72 non-egr air a.i.r. heads with a mild chamber cleanup, A little porting(ok a lot:cool: ). A cleaned up stock 68 to 72 also non-egr or a.i.r. QuadraJet intake with a 71 to 74 big block 800cfm QJ aswell and a cam designed for the application. A split duration grind to help the weak exhaust ports to the tune of around a 225-230 int and 240-245 exh at .050 lift on a 108* to 110* cl with around .500 total valve lift so that stock rockers can be used under stock covers.

Instant happy face from the grunt of this build. And the cam will give it that cruise in head turning idle that people love. And then for the real showstopper. Throw it in a lightweight hotrod and turn the tires into black goo.

If it was me that is:dollar: :dollar:

Here is a very impressive Buick 350 build. I have been for a ride in this car and helped Jay with a few things. For a budget build I am very impressed with the amount of power this thing makes. 7.70 @ 92 mph in the 1/8 mile

Welcome and thank you for your interest in building a 350 Buick. While most on here are or the big block kind, LOL. There is some of us who have the small block Buick, me included. For parts the only major producer of 350 Buick parts is TA Performance. But there is others that have some parts.

For a build I would like to see is at least 1 hp per CI. depending on what vintage the engine. it might be quite easy. But as most here would say more HP the better.
As others have said you may want to start a seperate thread for this, either on "the bench or in the Small block section.

Personally, I would love to see a turbo build - because I don't understand it. I'll be happy to see another Buick on the PowerBlock! I think this would be a good build to demonstrate the porting process.

I think you guys that responded may have been victim to a cruel "April Fools" joke here. Wouldn't someone working with a show know how to spell professional? Also, JBOUCHARD joined on 3/30/11 and has exactly one post (the one above).

Exactly my thoughts....If they want to make a fast 350, I'll offer to let them take The Maggot, remove the motor transmission, install a newly built pro charged 350 and matching trans etc and beat the snot out of it....But, I think this was just someones bad joke...
