There's a big race at Kennedale this weekend. How many of our V6 and V8 guys are going to be there? Looks like it's going to be a neat event. Details are at www.texasraceway.com

I think I'll take the big block out there.

Have folks made motel reservations for Temple yet? I'd like to stay where as many other Buick folks are as possible, to facillitate reliving the day's successes over a few cold ones.:beer

I haven't yet maybe leaning towards the Days Inn?

I'm going to try and call all of the the one's that I listed previously on this thread and see who has the best price and closest to the track.:Do No:

FYI I will be getting a room for Friday night and returning home Saturday evening.

David, Let me know where your gonna stay once you figure it out. I will probably come up on friday to meet everyone. Everyone, just to get a consenus, What time would everyone like to meet at the track I spoke with Linda from temple academy She stated, The gates open at 3p.m. and time trials start at 4p.m. but ya'll can come in when ever you would like the gates will be open all morning. I was thinking around 11am so we can mingle and maybe BBQ or something. Also this allows us to setup an area for the buicks. Let me know what you think?

P.S. I have maps for directions from Houston to temple academy raceway. and also Dallas to temple academy race way if you need a map send me a PM with your email. This will save Jim W. space on his website.

    Dee,
There have been a few people ask me, I'm really not sure sometime Friday early evening, I have that day off from work.

What is earlist you can leave? I know Larry Johnson (87GN) will probably hook up with with us going down not sure who else?

Rick Kinworthy (87GN) may go and Adi Glatz (69St1) is going as well.

    Phil,
I think 11a-12n in that area is perfect it gives us time to eat and bench race a little.

I will have a LSPBC banner to hang up and club shirts for sale if anyone is interested.

I can even bring the orange cones our club uses for the car shows and our race night to help block off an area for the Buicks.

Phil, are you familiar with which motel is closest to the track?

David, We will also have the BPG banner when John Schmidt comes and we should also have a few shirts need to verify that with John S. As far as hotels go, we could map out which ones are closed using map quest. I will let you know on approximate distances to the track. Any spacific hotels look intresting to you?
Cones would be good also for parking for people not intending to race. Linda (track promoter) Was very open to us so that we could make any arrangements within reason. If you have any suggestions let me know and I will try to do that also. One last thing. If people want to run for time they can run between rounds just in case you want to see what your car will do. Looks like we are gonna have a nice event once we fine tune the details a little!:TU:

I think I may have got a hotel for us in temple about 12 to 15 minutes from the track. Rates run $45 dollars a night, This is for a king sized bed or two single size beds. (room with a buddy split the cost.) just a thought. I will post more tommorrow. I will be driving out to the location taking some digital pictures of the facility, Parking, Partying area.

Hotel information goes as follows $45 dollars a night. for either a single king sized bed or two single beds. Temple academy raceway works in conjunction with this hotel and offers a racers discount which is the $45 so make sure to mention it. Here is the phone number to make reservations at the hotel. Hotel Name - Great Western Inn. Phone # 254-773-1515. Also there are plenty of eating establishments within minutes of the hotel. Here are a few pics of the rooms and We have a lot of area for parking. so trailors will not be an issue.

outside - this is an older establishment but the reason for picking this place was for the quantity of parking available. and cost.

Phil....a few comments...FIRST OF ALL--what's with the "flower" artwork on the walls of the rooms!!!?---I know it matches the bedspreads but come on!!!!---either find a place with pics of Buicks doing smoky burnouts with bedspreads that have tire patterns on them or let someone else do it. SECONDLY- The pool....I know it looks clean and sparkly clear...I want to see bikini-clad waitresses ready to serve drinks and more umbrellas out there (preferably umbrellas with a Buick related pattern on them). The parking lot.......is this long enough to conduct test-n-tune sessions on? And how about more trees??? Patton

The lot is almost long enough to pratice your quartermile in the parking lot (joke) Is fairly big. As for the interior decorations sleep on the flowery beds or if you want a real automotive feel patton sleep in your car.:Comp:
