You have to view Sea Mist in person. It tends to look different based on the various photos you may see here. Here's mine with the sun setting on it.
I think it looks good. No offence to any sea mist GS owners, but that color looks a bit "washed out" looking to me. The color they painted Jim's car looks more vibrant. Im sure it will stand out at the cruise nights. I'd keep it that color. You can always re paint it sea mist next time. Paint doesnt last forever Jason
I have a '71 Skylark Sport Coupe that is identical in appearance to Mark's car above. The car is supposedly painted Willowmist Green. Its really hard to tell about these colors due to the new paints being so much more vibrant than the original especially with the addition of the clearcoat over the paint. I'd be real reluctant to have it repainted as you don't know what problems might arise in the future with an overpaint. Tough call. I'd definatly speak with the body shop. If the color in wrong you at least should not pay full price for the work.
if he just finish the damn car........its only been sitting for how many years now jim???? not a green fan, but leave the color as is. john
Green is in this Year! I vote to keep it the LimeMist, although I can't tell which is which by the pics. Whatever color it is, I like it. But go  at the paintshop and make them take oh, 50% or so off... (edit) With a black top, that'd look sharp! :TU:
Correction In an earlier post I said China Mikes GS was Seamist. It isn't! Mikes car is a 1972 color Silvermist which has a green tint.
For what it's worth, this is the 72 Silver Mist, which also looks sort of green too depending on the light hitting it.
Careful here when comparing colors on various years of cars. the same color changes each year. Platinum mist has tinge of blue or green, depending which year it is. I think once the chrome and trim is on, it make s ahuge difference in how the car looks. If nothing else, get a big discount or force a repaint..they'll give you the discount rather than redo it i would think... It looks ok, but depends what he wants I guess... Did you know in 72 there were 47 GS convertibles painted "seamist green"? later Tim
That car that Jim has is definately painted Lime Mist. Personally, I like Lime Mist better than Sea Mist. But,it's too bad that the body shop screwed up,especially if the car was to be painted Sea Mist.
You need to decide for yourself what color you like better. Don't let ANYONE decide for you. I like the Sea Mist though. :error:  I also might suggest a little A$$ chewing if applicable. Unless of course you did not supply your shop with the paint code or chip. If you didn't, you didn't cover all your bases in my opinion. They may have seen the word "mist" and just went with the first one they saw. Who knows. Even if you like Lime Mist, you need to tell them they screwed up. They need to know, otherwise, how can they improve their system if nobody points out their screw ups?
Lime Mist The color of your friends car looks very close to the factory color Lime Mist, code H. Unfortunately, the color is no where near Sea Mist Green. I had an unoxidized piece of panel from my original Lime Mist 71 that I used as a guide and proof for a custom factory match. Unfortunately, some little punk at a body shop in Canada has not returned my original color proof piece, but I have the PPG custom formulation that was an exact match with the original proof panel. If it was me, I'd prefer to have the original color particularly because lime green wasn't a 72 color. Another alternative to getting some compensation since it's already a not matching color is to go all the way, and stripe it up like a GSX, including the rear wing. Hopefully free of charge. I just remembered having some old pictures from the 80s of my 71GS455 convertible before it rusted away. Looks a lot like Kens, not a bad look for a convertible either. GSX stripes and wing were added by the second owner. Here's one.
