    Hello all,

I have been in contact with the owners of KRP on the phone a few times now and i need some help from anyone and everyone that is going to attend the KRP return, or might be "on the bubble" as far as deciding. heres the deal............

I have made arrangements financially for our beloved Buicks to have FULL PRIVATE access to the track on Sat. July 19th. from 8 a.m. until approx. 3 p.m. in conjunction with their regularly scheduled "cruise night". this is DONE and in the books already !!!

the KRP schedule, as far as the cruise night weekend goes, has them opening the gates to the public at 3 p.m. and T&T at 4 p.m. and with a $15 Jackpot race starting later. this means that we will be there a full 7 hours ahead of the pack(which last year was a 2 mile wait, clear out onto the highway for those in attendance last year) and have several runs under our belts before jumping in on their Jackpot race begins. this also means that we will have our choice of parking areas too, so we will all be able to pit together as a "team".

what i need from yall is a car count of who will be, or is planning on showing up for this deal. i will list my home phone number below and would like anyone that is coming or considering coming to call me and let me know. this is specifically to arrange for us all to pit together and have a good time as a team. AS I SAID BEFORE the track rental is DONE for us, so don't sweat it !! but i need a car count for planning.

i will have a TON of info that will follow later, to give you all a better idea of what the schedule as far as we are concerned is.

Dave, sounds like a great time to me. I will be there.

  6. Greg Schmelzer

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

Dave, Count Eric and I in. He will have a car by then. I, unfortunately, am in a bit of a financial bind and will not have a car, but I will be there for support.:TU:

Also, I will talk to my parents and find out about camping in the area. I know there is a state park south of the interstate and will get their number if some one else is interested in camping out. Seems to me that there was a question regarding this on a different thread. More to follow.

    Greg and everyone,

if your self contained in the area of camping(the track has NO hookups), or just want to toss out a bag and do it "hick" style i can arrange this at the track. i talked with John about this also and arrangements have been made already for Sat. night camping at the track(its a GO).

"IF" there is enough interest in arriving on Friday night and making camping available at the track then too, that plan is in motion too, providing that there are enough of us that want to do it. quite frankly if there is enough interest in opening Friday, in my opinion, i will give John a call back and tell him we need the gates opened. we talked about this scenario and have a plan, and a number in mind already. if that number is reached, i will make the call and add this as an option. i have already had a couple calls in which this was brought up, even had a guy say he'd just toss a sleepingbag in and crash in the bed of his truck. SOOO this is something i NEED to know also. "PROJECTED ARRIVAL TIME" for everyone involved. and if you want to crash(bad choice of words there, how about...) nap, at the track on Friday and Saturday. as i said Sat. is a non-issue as this is already done and is up to you participants. but Friday is still up in the air here. in my opinion as a participant on this, i would like to see around a dozen of us there to camp out at the track on Friday night. i think it would be a hoot, get Garrison or someone to fire up a generator and kick on the lights, have a few cold ones :beer , and i will outrun you all bench racing. any takers ???

also , i talked with Scott King from there in Kearney last night on the phone after the EMT's left (youngest put himself through a glass coffee table) and he is going to get in touch with some of the local motels and see if he can work up a deal for us there. he is the local expert and already has some ideas in mind. when he comes up with a "plan" i am sure he will post the motel option for us here. again he is the local hook-up on this so he is in charge of it 100%... good luck Scott and get us a good deal if you can man. :TU: i have no doubts !

i am assembling the "schedule" for us right now with the information yall will need so that you can plan ahead and get the word out to us midwest guys. Mike Bucy brought up some very good points on the BPG thread about why the BPG would have a tough time taking on this event again after the results of last year. everything he said is indeed very true and MUST be taken into consideration for this event to work. I have and will continue to use the lessons learned from last year as i progress with this, but quite frankly folks, we are gonna have to SHOW the club we can do this ! lets start getting the word out now on this and i will have a flyer put together very soon for yall to copy and all that. the track rental is a non-issue, its taken care of ! now we need to get some cars there and get some participation up.:TU:

if possible, i would like to ask that one of the administrators on the board make this thread a "sticky" in an attempt to make sure it isnt lost in the shuffle of the 1000's of posts that hit this board daily. Thank You !

    Jeff,

yes you will be bracket racing. thats the easiest for the new folks that havent run a lot. the guys that run alot are used to it so thats the safest way to go. quick , easy , and fun. so dont worry..............it's run what you brung, and if you know your car and can see the tree, you have as good a shot as anyone there to winning...............

for the participants it's all about having a good time. life is way to short to worry about stuff. you just come on down and have a good time. if ANYTHING goes wrong it'll all be on my shoulders. so there you have it.........a race with the sole intent to have fun, with no worries, and meet a bunch of Buick nuts. what more could you ask for ?

    Re: RACING!!!

    John,

don't let out all of our "news" to the class just yet. we gotta keep them on their toes a little, so that there are surprises for them when we get to Kearney. makes it more exciting....:Brow:

as soon as you have a list of your "Colorado victims" :moonu:,for me drop me a e-mail or give me a call at home. an e-mail may work the best for record keeping purposes. I will talk to you soon............

    Everyone,

i am working on the schedule now and as soon as its done i will get it up for yall to see.............

    Motel

Today I talked to Marv and Carol Hilton at Budget Motel South. They agreed to reserve thirty rooms for us for the 18th & 19th of July. Give them a call at 308-237-5991 to get the type of room you want. You will have until July 11th to cancel. The price is $44.50 for double occupancy, just mention the BPG to get the discount. If your planning on camping, you can call Clyde & Vi's campground at 308-234-1532. They are across the street from the motel. Further out of town is the Fort Kearny State Park, a nice place to camp with hookups. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can call me at 308-236-6030 days or 308-236-6760 eves. Also you can e-mail me at seking@nebi.com

    John, John, John,........

my thin aired friend. you need to brush up on your harvesting information. Corn harvest is in the fall buddy, wheat harvest is in the summer.:Dou: and you don't combine corn, you pick corn. go outside take about 3 deep breaths(as compared to the 1 needed here at our altitude) and relax. then: get back into the garage and get that second gear set-up ready for the swap you'll have to make to run down here. you won't need all the gear you guys run up there at 7000 bazillion feet up.

when you get that done and your ready......... come on down outa the hills(try and remember to shave before you come to town mountain man), and i'll put a 12 pack on the line. best reaction time, 1rst pass(so we're both fresh).you may outrun me but i will TATTOO your butt at the tree :beer i can taste the cold ones already.........HEY you know what ??? maybe i could ask the track to put in the new L.E.D. bulbs on just your side so you are close and dont feel so bad.............you up for it ??

    all in good fun,

I also want to thank everyone that is working there but of on getting this rolling.:TU: :TU: :TU: :beer :beer

I personally will do the motel on Sat night. Mainly due to the fact that I have had heat stroke in the past (more on that at a later date) &will need a night in the A/C to be able to feel human on Sun. I'll just need to make sure I bring lots of water and Gatoraid in the cooler.

Greg and I will definatly be there sometime Sat morn.

    Eric,

i TOTALLY understand when you talk about a heat stroke. had one myself and it was no fun, flight-for-life to Denver and i dont remember a bit of it. i remember waking up and my dad was there, tubes everywhere in me. NOT a good feeling at all.

    Jeff,

to quote a movie thats i really enjoy, it's all " FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME".:TU:
