After 3 days of morning temps in the 20s I believe Winter is coming early:eek::eek:.
So is everyone ready/prepared? Fill up the tanks as fuel prices are on the rise.
My new wood furnace will be here tomorrow. I have 12 chord of seasoned hardwood that needs to be split and 700 gallons of heating oil in the tanks.
This winter is looking to be much colder(--30) and heavier snow fall than the last few years.
So........ are you ready, Well are you:D
Be prepared and be warm( for those in the cold zones)

26 was the coldest of the three days so far, the other two days was 28. I had a bucket of water outside that was frozen about50% through.
Jim, Briz will be warm enough when he hears his engine on the dyno:D

Here in Lethbridge, we are so close to the Eastern side of the mountains that our winters are usually very mild. We will get a cold snap, or snow, and a week, maybe 2 later, warm and dry streets. I grew up in Prince George where the kids went out on Halloween with a snowsuit on. The snow would stay until late March to Mid April. I do not miss it. In Dease Lake (70 miles south of the Yukon), winter arrives in early October and stays until late May. Don't miss that either. Today it is going up to 21 C (70 F). I have no complaints.

We have a few hard frosts here the last couple days. High 20s to start the morning. Its still managing to hit mid 50s most days though. I serviced my boiler and ran it through the paces Saturday. I've got another cord to split but I have plenty of wood for this year. All sorts of hardack, elm and ash around.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Still in the 50's here (Seattle, WA) overnight, and hitting 70's during the day, which is very unusual for October.

My AC was just running a few minutes ago. Currently 68° F or 20° C. Thursday's forecast calls for a few wet snow flurries and 28° F overnight.
I'm hoping the upcoming winter doesn't bring as much snow as last winter.

If you made it through the winter of '96-'97, at least here in NH, you can make it through anything. We had 28 major storms that year, and many smaller ones. We had 3 nor'easters in april that dumped 30+ inches of heavy wet snow, and one in may that gave us 18 inches of the same. Ever since, that is what I prepare for.

That said, the old timers like to see your reaction when they tell you it's gonna be a hard winter. Predictons I saw said another La Nina this year, so similar to the last 2 years. I guess we'll see.

That whole thing about how far down in the wood pile the squirrels built their nest or how thick the fur is on a hogs back has been nothing but false alarms for me.

To you people up north, you’re nuts! To my Florida brethren, too cold for me. 59° at night? I would have to put on shoes and socks, and a T-shirt. At 10:19 PM it is 75.1° on my electronic thermometer. My barefoot toes are kind of cold. I don’t have a shirt on.

Somebody was talking about a frost, whatever that is. I think we had one about 15 years ago. Not lately
